REgistry repair software is not recommended for repair of xp systems. It will frequently compound any issues you are having with your system.
What kind of problems are you having that make you think the registry is at fault.? Have you followed some of the basic maintenance procedures recommended to keep your xp system performing well? Try following the steps outlined in this article:
http://miekiemoes.blogspot.com/2008/02/help-my-computer-is-slow.html
You may be advised to run chkdsk on your system to clean up the disc. You can find instructions to do so here: http://best-windows.vlaurie.com/chkdsk.html or here: http://forums.whatthetech.com/index.php?showtopic=102348

But I would recommend you stay away from registry cleaners. If you want to do some cleaning yourself, follow this advise http://forums.whatthetech.com/index.php?showtopic=100889and/or use the system cleanup tool.
I hope this information allows you to resolve this issue. If you need further assistance, please post back with a comment to this thread.
If I've managed to answer your question or solve a problem, please take just a moment to rate this post....thanks!

SOURCE: DVD r/w driver for XP Pro Service pack 3

It could be the DVD and maybe there is no drive on Windows for this DVD. You might have to use third party software.
If they did not send the drive in to Microsoft for the DVD then it is not there.

For scenario 2, the registry entries that correspond to Windows Update are changed back to the Windows XP SP2 version if you did not restart the computer before you install Windows XP SP3. The registry entries for the Wups2.dll file are changed to pointing to the Wups.dll file that is included in the release version of Windows XP SP2.

Windows xp explorer won't shut down

First...you need to clean your "Windows"for unnecessary files.Search on Google for "free windows sweeper"...It a software very useful and free to use. Install the software check options in left panel and push "CLEAN". Second: Search on Google for a software for fix hidden errors(ex: Registry repair or Advanced System Optimizer) both software are 15 or 30 days free to use...And finaly get a antivirus. Nod32 run silent and not "eat" resources of comp....And don't forget START PROGRAMS ACCESORIES-SYSTEM TOOLS-DISK DEFRAG or (my recommendation is to use Advanced System Care. They have a free version very good....After all those things you will have a new computer...more faster....more optimize....Goood Luck!
