Hold th epower button down on your tower for about 5-10 seconds and it should shut off. Then you can turn it back on. If that doesnt shut it down you can always pull the power cord.

I would unplug the power cord from the tower and while that is unplugged press the power button on the tower, then plug the power back in and try booting the pc up again-

Will it let you press the f8 key once it is first booted back up to go to the advanced boot menu?

Are you aware if your keyboard is a ps2 keyboard or if it is an USB keyboard? If it is USB then you may need a ps2 keyboard to be able to work in the post screen.

  • Brandon Baker Apr 09, 2009

you already have a ps2 keyboard then..The first and easiest thing i would do is to try borrowing another keyboard off someone (ps2) and try that.. If that doesnt work the next steps would actually deal with being inside of the tower removing the ram modules, I am not sure how comfortable you would be with doing that, but I would try a different known working keyboard first.

Not a problem, let me know if that fixes your problem.

You need to do a system restore back to before the update. You can either access it during your bootup or, you should have the option through "all programs".

My Acer X1200 has a virus, I can't access Windows

Step One.

If your computer is still on, attempt the three finger salute to restart your computer, that is ctl, alt, delete at the same time, which will pop up a window showing you the running programs. Then go into safe mode to access your anti virus program and save info, or just re-install your software system if there is nothing you need to save.

Or:
A hard shut down can also be done.

Boot into your system in safe mode after that.

If none of that works give more detail as to what is going on.

Randomly lost display on my pc.. and its not a faulty card.

Try to set your PCI-E card as a first one in BIOS. There also should be an option to turn off onboard video.

My notebook computer seems to be frozen. I only see the screen that shows the windows vista home premium page. I can't see any icons on screen.

Hello! sounds like you need to make sure the Vista Cd is in a drive, shut down p.c. then re-boot you will be asked to boot from cd by pressing any key. Let windows load files then you set location and keyboard layout the next page will ask for full install/upgrade or REPAIR? try the repair item.
Good Luck!!

After i load ssp2 my computer does not open window program

What is 2.2 frame?
Do you mean .Net framwork 2.2 update from microsoft?
Press & hold the power on button on the E-Machine. That will shut down the PC. Unplug the power cord from the power supply. Wait a minute. Re-connect the power cord to you're PC & press the power button on you're PC. Windows should start & may run check disk before loading windows. Continue updating windows through windows update service. There are more
.Net framwork updates. If you're system continues to run restarting shut it down as before. This time when you start up the PC start pressing the F5 key every two seconds. Windows Advanced Option Menu will load. Choose Safe mode. Open control panel, open add/remove programs. At the top of the window & slightly to the right of the Add or Remove Programs windows is a box next to Show Updates. Left click in the box. Scroll down & find .Net framwork 2.2 & uninstall it. Close all opened windows & restart the PC.
Continue to update you're windows.

Please let me know if this has helped.
Good Luck!

PCI adapter did not install

I don't know how you could have installed the drivers BEFORE you installed the hardware... Shut down and UNPLUG the system; REMOVE the new PCI card, then hook up the power and boot the system back to the Desktop. Check the Device Manager to be sure you're not showing any problems; if everything seems back to normal, shut down and unplug the system a second time, then install the PCI card again, restore power, and prepare to reboot the system. Be SURE that ALL of the PCI cards are fully seated in the slots, and that the main power cable (from the PSU) is fully seated in the connector; IOW, check the system just to be sure that nothing has come loose while you've been working inside the case. Next, boot the system again; Windows SHOULD detect the new PCI card during bootup, though it might NOT request drivers, if they are already embedded within XP itself... Once you get back to the Desktop, open the Device Manager and check to be sure that the new card has been detected and properly installed. If you see any question marks, error messages, or exclamation marks, take detailed notes, and post that information here, so we can help you troubleshoot the problem... Good luck; I can only give you general advice about this, because you didn't provide any specific details about your new hardware, but with a little luck, you'll get everything working without any more heartburn...
