My Kenmore side by side Model# 53504 is freezing the water in the supply line (inside the freezer) before it dumps into the ice maker. Where the water comes thru the back wall of the freezer it is freezing before it can deposit the water into the ice maker.
This usually means you have a weeping water valve. The water valve doesn't completely shut down after filling the icemaker. This deposits a staedy flow of water which freezes and accumulates in the tube, eventually blocking it off. You would need to replace the water valve which is located at the rear of the refrigerstor. One othe thing to check would be the water supply to the refrig. If the water dispenser is working fine then that isn't an issue. However, if that is flowing slowly you would need to replace the saddle valve which is tapping into your house water supply.
