Does the Optoma HD20 DLP projector have a air filter? If it does, where is it located?

Hello

The Optoma HD20P doesn't have an air filter.
If you remove the covers you will find 2 cooling fans that get a build up of dust on the leading edges of the fan blades.
These can easily be cleaned with a small paint brush and a drinking straw to blow out the excess dust.
If you are having overheating problems, please view my post on replacing the heat sink compound on the image processor.

Cheers

yes, any projector with a air filter.

if your projector often make overtemperature protection, you have to inspect the air filter, whether it is still clean, otherwise, you need to replace it.

MY OPTOMA HD65 KEEP TURNING OFF AFTER 1 TO 2 MIN. OF USE THE FAN IS RUNNING WHAT ELSE COULD BE WRONG WITH IT IT IS ONLY 1 YEAR 4 MONTHS OLD ..IT ALSO HAD A NEW BULB

Try cleaning the filter. If the area where it is installed is enclosed this will also cause over heating.. Make sure you have adequate air flow in the place where it is located and clean the filter.

When i first turn it on the message (projector over heated will automatically shut off lamp) comes up and then shuts off after 2 mins

You have an overheating problem. To solve it

1) Ensure that there are clear air pathways around the projector

2) Clean the air filters.

3) Ensure that the fans are running. If the fans don't run the projector won't fire it.

It is likely that cleaning the filters will solve your porblem.

Optoma projector overheat issue - fan comes on but switches off

Most projectors have air filters. Yours may need to be removed and cleaned. No air flow = overheat.

ALSO CHECK YOUR FAN. IF THE FAN OR A HEAT SINK IS NOT WORKING PROPERLY (I.E. THE FAN MAY JUST NEED TO BE CLEANED OR REPLACED, THERE SHOULD BE A SMALL HEAT SINK. IF CLOUDED W/DUST, IT WILL KEEP THE OPERATION SHORT). ALSO CHECK IF YOU HAVE SET ANY TEMPERATURE SHUTDOWN PARAMETERS. IF YOUR LAMP HEATS UP FOR SO LONG AND REACHES A TEMPERATURE THAT WILL AFFECT THE CIRCUITS, THIS OF COURSE WILL SHUT DOWN YOUR UNIT UNEXPECTEDLY. HOPE THIS HELPS...JGUAM
