Main light on will not come on when door is opened/closed

Previously the main light on the garage door opener worked fine. Model is Sears Craftsman 139.53629SRT. One of the leads that connects to one of the door opening sensors got severed so we had to manually operate the garage door for a couple days until I could repair the connector at the sensor. After turning the power back on (circuit breaker) upon completing the repair (it was left on before I made the repair), the garage door functioned perfectly through all remotes but the main light (which worked prior to turning the power off) would not come on. I removed the front panel and all connections appear fine. I've tested the bulb and it is fine. I also tried to use the "learn" function explained by someone else here with a similar problem and that didn't work either. Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks!

I'm sorry about your light not working right. It seems weird that it isn't turning on at all when the door opens. I can't think of why that would be an issue. I know that there are some professional garage door repair companies, have you called giving any a call. Good luck! https://dieseloverheaddoors.com/services...

For some reason, the bulbs I tested that worked somehow didn't work correctly when inserted into the door opener. We opened another set of bulbs we purchased and what do you know, the light now works. I don't fully understand as the other bulbs did work just not in the garage door opener.

My chamberlain garage door will not close. I have checked it manually and it works fine. I have check the sensors and they are inline Please help

If when the door starts to close the main light flashes 10 times and the door reverses to the open position it is a door sensor problem. Make sure the small light on each sensor is lit and not flashing. Tweak them a bit. If you cannot get both lights to come on you have bad sensors.

My garage door is a craftman . The problem is the door opens fine but won't close unless u hold the button till its completely closed. I noticed this only happens when its cold out any suggestions !!!

If the main light flashes 10 times when the door reverses it is a door sensor problem. Make sure the sensors are pointed at one another and the small light on each one is lit and not flickering. Tweak them a bit.

Craftsman # 139.53879 -1/2 h.p. Door opener- problem re-programing remote unit. Garage door will open but not close using remote. Wall switch works fine to open & close.

Check your door sensors. They must be pointed directly at one another and the small light on each one must be lit and not flickering. If by tweaking them you can't get both lights to come on you may have a wiring problem or one of the sensors has quit working.

It sounds like your door sensors may be misaligned. If when you try to close the door the main light flashes 10 times and the door reverses to the open position this is the case. Make sure the small light on each sensor is lit and not flickering. Tweak the sensors to see if you can get both lights to come on. If not you have a bad sensor.

Garage door opener won't close. travels 6-8 in.,

If you cannot get the light on the sensor to come on by tweaking it,making sure it is pointed at the other sensor and your wiring is not broken or shorted then your sensors need to be replaced.

Garage door opened, won't close

If you can press and hold the wall button and the door will go down, you have a photo eye issue. Check the photo eyes at the bottom of the door.
