John deere tractor runs in 1st gear but in 2 gear it starts and stops, maybe a connection issue but not sure

I would replace the high/low switch and the reverse switch. One time a replaced the high/low switch and the reverse switch quit on me 2 weeks later.
You can also get the Peg Perego Gator Shifter that upgrades the vehicle.

could be the gears hold unit of gound and push pedal try to hold wheel if it stops gears are worn..best way to test it id say would be by pass switches 1 at a time let it run see if it does same thing if it dont theres your problem

I had the same problem and replaced the shifter which I found at

This fixed all the speeds and now it runs great.
