Just bought a used westinghouse RJ275M fridge. It seems to work fine except for the noise - it has a low hum and rattling noise.

It can be compressor fan noise, may be motor getting overheated and causing noise. It has to be inspected.

Before going to buy any parts directly.

All of a sudden our refrigerator freezer and refrigerator stopped freezing and cooling.. The fan is working, cleaned the coils, but when the compressor kicks on it only runs for about 10-15 seconds before...

UNPLUG and remove the compressor relay...if it rattles when you shake it..its bad, if not, it could be the compressor..it takes alot of specialized training and tools and material to replace a compressor. Its not a job that can be done by the average person..

Compressor makes brief but loud rattling noise when it shuts off. Other than that the refrigerator is operating properly.

There are rubber shock mounts between the bottom of the compressor and the fridge frame, if any of these are worn it can cause that sound. Sometimes the condensate tray is what is actually making the noise; when the compressor powers down it vibrates and causes the metal tray to shake, maybe bumping the side and creating the noice. Pull the fridge off the wall and take the cover off the back of the fridge. Be careful, there's some voltage going through there. Locate the condenstae tray, shake it gently and see if it's loose. Give the compressor a gentle push and see if that makes the sound. Usually it's one of those two things and not an actual problem with the unit. When you touch the compressor, be careful, they can get pretty hot.

Freezer not freezing ,fridge not cooling ,no ice build up around coils.what should i check for next?

Is the Compressor Running? Put your hand on compressor and see if you feel a vibration or if it is cold or hot. On the side there is a start relay. Remove that and shake it. If it rattles then it is bad. Replace and you will be running again. If compressor is running then most likely compressor is bad. Check frost pattern on the evaporator in the freezer section. If it appears that compressor is running and the evaporator is a little cold and maybe even has a little frost on the top of it then compressor is insufficient,

RED TEMP WARNING LIGHT ON MOTOR RUNNING

I'm sorry to have to tell you that this sounds like a very expensive fault to fix!
Either your fridge/freezer has degassed (lost the refridgerant gas) through a small leak in the pipe system behind or inside the freezer compartment, OR the compressor (what you called the motor) has started to fail.
Either way, these are very expensive repair jobs. It's possible to replace the compressor within about an hour, but if your model is out of guarantee, there will be around a £50/60 Call-out charge and the compressor will cost between £75 and £150 depending on the model.
Alternatively, if the fridge/freezer has lost gas, the engineer would have to try to find the leak - this could be IMPOSSIBLE if the leak is within the pipework inside the back of the fridge or above/below the freezer compartment.
I'm sorry to say that it's looking like you may have to part with a lot of money - or say goodbye to the fridge/freezer you have!

Freezer not freezing and fridge not cooling

Check the back wall of the freezer for ice buildup.
If yes, a defrost parts problem.
Check the freezer fan. Is it running?
If no, replace the freezer fan.
Check the condenser fan at the compressor. Is it running?
If no, is compressor hot?
If compressor is hot replace condenser fan motor.
If compressor is not hot.
Replace the compressor start relay.

Samsung RS2555SL humming noise

don't know this model specifically, but have had loads of problems with these samsung fridge-freezers. the no water in drinks dispensor is probably due to the water bottle at the bottom of the fridge being frozen. this is endemic with samsung the noise you hear is ice hitting fan. samsung use two systems for fan. the one i think you have is separate fans for fridge and freezer and a separate evaperator for fridge and freezer. take of the back plate of the fridge and you will find the fan mounted in it. disconnect the plug and socket connection. you will probably find ice build up round the fan blade. melt off with hot water. the bar you had showing on the "8" is a fault code - the most common fault being the defrost termination sensor. unless you are experienced, this is not really a diy appliance
