My Chefmate mini fridge model #BC-50A when running the fins are cool/cold but the fan does not run. I removed the RUILTAN SCIENCE fan and put it up to a 12V power source and the fan will turn. However, it seems the fan (prop) has some some resistance (not electrically) turning on the shaft. Is this resistance/drag suppose to happen because of the magnets in the motor? Or would the problem be something else? Or should I buy a replacement fan? I found a replacement fan (part # RDL8025S) at pchub.com for less that 15$ deliveried. Your thoughts?

The refrigerator side is cool, but not cold. The freezer side is frozen, but melting. The ice in the ice maker melted, but created one big ice cycle that has not melted. The fan underneath is running,...

I just ran into this problem this year. Is it very warm underneath your fridge? If you remove the cover in the back, you may find that you compressor is so hot you can't touch it. You can first try blowing out your cooling fins in the back of your fridge. A fan is connected to it and it should be next to the compressor. For my case that did not work. I then replaced the fan for the cooling fins and now my fridge works fine.

Side by side GE turbo-cool Gss25XSRBSS, the freezer seems to be fine, the fridge is not cooling. Fans seem to be running smoothly, no weird noises. Turbo cool turns on. It hasn't been running for

if you go here you can see the damper, fan assy. that's in the top of your machine in the fresh food side
http://www.repairclinic.com/PartDetail/Damper/WR49X10091/1055112
this is a damper with another fan in it,when the t-stat calls for cold air the damper door opens to let the cold air in from the freezer and the fan in it blows the cold air around inside the fridge,if the freezer is fine and the fridge side is warm most likely this is your problem, part number WR49X10091 and it's around 130 dollars.unplug the machine, remove the light cover on the ceiling, remove the 1/4 inch screws and drop the light assy.remove thhe filter cover on the right side so you can remove the damper assy.pop off the cover on the piece that runs up the back center, remove the screws to the damper, read the instructions and put it back together again.should take you around 45 to 60 minutes.hope this helps and good luck.

I recently brought this fridge out of storage, it was working perfectly fine before i put it into storage. I plugged it in and the lights are on, i let it run for a few hours but it did not get cold or...

The cooling fans do not run unless the right temperature is reached. The important thing is to find if the compressor is running. If you do not hear a whirring sound when the fridge is powered on, then the compressor has a problem. Generally when you put in storage the refrigent can leak out and needs to be refilled.

If the compressor is running then check the thermostat settings. Might also help if you provide the make and model number of your fridge.

Chefmate mini fridge no more

OK If this is a U-line refrigerator. Is the compressor running? The Fan? If both are running then you will have a sealed system issue. If nothing is running then it goes to the thermostat. Bypass the 2 wires from the thermostat to see if it runs.Yes, then replace the thermostat.

Hot to touch

there is another fan at the bottom, rear, of the refigerator. remove the bootom panel and look at the cooling fins to make sure they are not bent into the fan blades. Caefully bend the fins away from the fan. this should improve the cooling of the refrigerator and get rid of the hot spot on the rail between the refrigerator and freezer.

(1.7 cu) Chefmate Fridge Doesn't Get Cold

The Chefmate 1.7 fridge uses a thermalelectric device (TED) to provide cold air. There are no moving parts there. The problem is usually in the power supply. That is the PCB on the left side behind the back cover. If the fans are running then your thermostat is bad or the TED is cracked. You can buy these ebay or other places on line. To change one you must carefully remove the large heat sink. The TED itself is only about two inches square. If you decide to replace this unit be sure to get a supply of heat sink glue. Otherwise you will end up with a hot (or cold) spot on the TED possitly causing another crack.

Chefmate RS-06DR mini Fridge (1.6 Cubic Feet)

My chefmate is **** because the internal fan is garbage, its cheap, it doesn't work or give enough flow, try a higher flow unit. You can get the 12v at tigerdirect.com with some high flow (AND LIGHTS :) ) for a few bucks to save your 100 dollar investment. The removal of the orig fan is easy. The evap is a good setup, but the cooling setup for it seems to be sh*t. Cheap fans = cheap setup and this is why everyone hates these units cause it can't pump the goods.

For the record my fan died, so my evap and fan froze over completely and spoiled my food and burned out the fan completely and probably helped to short it. I can get it going if I flicker the fan with my finger but she is dead and can't catch naturally. You could replace the chefmate fan with most computer fans too... fyi if you got a junk tower laying around.

While your at it clean the fans on the back and take off the back panel which kicks out the hot air from the hot flow. It helps if your unit is older (a year plus+ in a dorm is like 4 in a clean house lol)
