Dishwasher Not Leveled

This is a very common reason for a leaking dishwasher especially if this was a new installation. The framing in a dishwasher is made up of mostly thin sheet metal, so if it is not sitting flat and level things can get distorted very easily. Watch the video on leveling diswasher

Door Seal

This is not very common in most dishwashers. To check this look for rips and distortion of the seal. If it is ripped or distorted you will need to replace.

Dispenser Seal

This is a more common place for a leak to develop. This is easy to check, remove the front panel and carefully inspect around the seal for water dripping or stainage. If any is found replace dispenser gasket.

Water Inlet Valve

Usually it is the connection to the water inlet valve that ends up leaking. Check this connection ( there is usually some sort of adaptor between the valve and supply hose) for leaks. Check the connection on the back of the water inlet valve also. Ocassionaly a water inlet valve will leak around the solenoid in this case replace water inlet valve

Drain / Circulating Pump

Some dishwashers have separate drain and circulate pumps Some use one pump to serve both purposes. In either case you will need to check the housings for leaks along with all the connections. Some dishwashers have a seal that leaks down into the pump . This is easy and inexpensive to replace.

Door Latch

The door latch can become loose or misalinged. Check both the striker and the latch. To adjust the latch you will need to remove the front panel and adjust the switch until properly aligned.

Door Hinges

They can cause problems, but this usually only happens from opening a heavy load of dishes on the door. Occassionaly a broken spring or cable occurs. You will need to remove the toe kick and maybe the front panel to inspect

This is usually caused by a syphon effect or your drain line improperly installed. You can not attach your drain line from the dishwasher without having a loop in it. If you go directly under the floor with your drain hose, all water will drain out upon fill. Safest and recommended installation of drain hose is to your kitchen sink and attach the hose somewhere so it is higher then the bottom of your sinks.

I found the error codes in the owners manual, (01) is a leak. I called customer service (no wait time) and they said there is pan under the tub that will contain and detect water if it leaks. They said I could wait for it to dry out. They said there could be a hose that became loose or had a pin hole in it. After I hung up with customer service I did my own problem solving. The diswasher washing cycle was just started. Then then the door was opened 5 to 6 times to add more utensils and dishes while the the machine was running. Then the error code came on. this was the first time this had happened. I beleive water seeped doen through the hinges and the seal into the pan. I unpluged the dishwasher and disconnected the water line and pulled it from under the counter. Then lifted the diswasher onto 4 inch blocks of wood placed under the feet. This made it easier to access the pan. It had 2 screws inthe front and 1 in the rear with 3 clips. I removed the pan and dried it. Inspected the hoses under the unit and determined none of them had appeared to be leaking. I positioned a fan to blow under the unit to speed up the dry time, about 1/2 an hour. Put everything back together and ran a high pressure hot water cycle and found no leakes, so far.

If your dishwasher leaks, check these:

Main tub seal Note… If the main motor of your dishwasher is mounted vertically, beneath the center bottom of the dishwasher, the following instructions probably apply to you. But if your motor is mounted horizontally, the pump isn't serviceable--you need to replace the entire pump and motor assembly.

The main tub seal is beneath the drain impeller. It prevents the water in the dishwasher from leaking out near the shaft of the motor. To get to the seal, which is inside the dishwasher, remove the:

• Lower rack
  
  
• Spray arm
  
  
• Spray arm support
  
  
• Wash/drain impellers
  
  

Then pry the seal out of its housing and replace it.

Door gasket or seal Over time, door gaskets and seals harden and lose their ability to seal properly. You can't repair the seals. You need to replace them if they've begun to leak.

Water-inlet valve The water-inlet valve, itself, seldom leaks. But, the water-supply line from the house and the rubber tube leading from the valve to the inside of the dishwasher may leak. Tighten or repair/replace these as necessary.

The water-inlet valve could mechanically stick open. When that happens, the water continues to flow into the dishwasher, which then floods your kitchen. Turn off the water supply to the dishwasher, and replace the valve.

Hoses Behind the lower access panel on your dishwasher are several rubber or plastic hoses. If the leak appears at a connection, try a new clamp. If that doesn't work, replace the hose.

If it is not overfilling, and then leaking, the whirring noise can be a defective water inlet valve, that stays stuck on open, see here : It's overfilling

If it is not overfilling, the two problems may be unrelated, and the noise can be froma foreign object inside the object trap.

Here is a tip that I wrote about dishwashers and them leaking.

My first question - If your dishwasher is still under warranty why you don't ask manufacturer service to take care for it !! Water supply to the diswasher is done through an electromagnet valve,loocated at the pipe's enterance to the machine. A defect in the valve may mean that it's no longer able to shut off completely when the electricity has been turned off to it, and the valve may leak and drip water freely into the tub. Check if water are coming into the tub when the diswasher is off. If this is the situation- Open the valve (very easy to do it)and clean it from scale or other dirt (take care not to lose any part). Be aware you should disconnect the power cable from the machine before doing it !!!!! In most cases it should solve your problem, but if not - you should replace the valve with a new one. Good luck !!
