There is a generic type of water filter that fits all Whirlpool and KitchenAid refrigerators with a water filter located in the base grill below the door.

Not all fridges with water dispensers have integral filters. Several have an external in line filter fitted to the supply pipe.

This has to do with the temperature control, or cold control as they may call it, in the refrigerator. This is located in the refrigerator part of the machine. Write down the model and serial number wich is located in the refrigerator, and contact a parts distributor, I use apdepot, and ask for a cold control, or fresh food thermostat. First check for ice build up in the freezer, which would indicate a defrost circuit failure. Look for ice build up on the evaporator coil.

You might be best served by manually defrosting your refrigerator and seeing if the indications change.

Install an inline water filter behind the refrigerator on the water supply line just before it connects to the water inlet valve on the back of the refrigerator,this is a simple project that most anyone can perform if you have a small amount of "handyman" in you, and a few tools.
Have you checked to see if your model of refrigerator has a water filtration system built into it from the factory?
If so, all you need to do is change/install a fresh new filter on it and you are good to go for 6 to 10 months!

Good job! most people do not know about the evaporator drain.
I would check the tubing to the icemaker, icemaker inflow valve and, water filter.

Do not use a steel or plastic braided supply line. They make the ice taste bad.

No your roper does not have a filter. I hope this helps.
