I get the same error on my LG and I tried unplugging and cleaning the filter which I have done on a regular basis since owning my washer.

You need a service call. The Hall sensor, located on the motor, is bad. Must be done by a qualified tech, but do this and your problems will be solved. Make sure you are using a 'HE' branded detergent, and not too much, less is best.

I've had this problem in the past and had a service call. I was told I was using too much detergent. In order to solve the problem, the service man used a programming technique to force the machine just to spin. The problem has just happened to me again and I can't remember what he did. I guess I assumed it would never happen again. Does anyone know so I an avoid another service call for the same problem?

    LE error code popped up

  • Anonymous Aug 30, 2008

The code LE has come up.  It did this at the end of the spin cycle with my daughter's load.  She didn't tell us, so we put a load in, it filled, but won't spin--just shuts off and registers LE.

  • Anonymous Aug 30, 2008

Washer is giving me the LE code, again. I have changed the hall sensor and cleaned the filter. We were using the washer for awhile after the first sensor. Can't get it to do any spinning what so ever now. Even tried the service diagnostic cycle and no spinning. Anything else I can try? Hate to spend $70.00 for the service call if I can avoid it. Thanks.

  • schuster996 Feb 01, 2009

We have the exact same problem. The water does not drain and it shows the LE error message a few minutes into the problem. Our dealer/repair man said we are putting too much of the HE detergent in and to run several loads with no detergent to clean it out. We kept doing this until the LE error message would come up again and it started to go longer each time until we got a full cycle in again. This helped for a couple of weeks, but it is doing it again and we have be VERY careful not to use the smallest amount of detergent.

This a common problem for all front loaders. Your washer will not drain or work 'cause your outlet filter is clogged. Usually this small door is on the left side front below of your washer. Expect some water to come out when you open the door, etc. Clean out your filter and refit.....things should be fine.

Model: LDS5811ST, purchased at Home Depot 3/7/07 for $782.81. The LE error code appeared for the second time in just over three years. Troubleshooting revealed the motor (Part#
4681ED1004A) has failed again. First failure 5/08/08. Second failure 7/10/10. LG covered the first repair under warranty. However, this second repair they will not cover because "repair parts have no warranty" according to the customer service representitive I spoke with. Needing a dishwasher immediately, I researched Consumer Reports and purchased another model. What I found interesting though was LG has the worst reliability rating among all the manufactures tested, including all the big names and a few others I never heard of.
Recommendation: Avoid LG products. Other brands offer much better relaibility and cost less.

It worked!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!This is the second time it happened to me and I had a repair man come out the first time. You need to have a shop vac with you so you can just pull the plug.

This a common problem for all front loaders. Your washer will not drain or work 'cause your outlet filter is clogged or an unusually heavy load. The small door is on the left side front bottom of your washer. Remove the door with a putty knife or thin butter knife inserted in the middle top of the access panel door. Drain the water from the filter housing by pulling the tube out of the clip and unplugging, allow it to run into a bucket while the machine is in spin only mode. This mode is acheived when the washer is first powered on press the spin button until no spin is reached then run. Run in this mode until no water is draining from the tube in the bucket. Keep the tube as low as possible. When water has stopped coming out of the tube turn off the washer and unplug from the wall. This step is important because this resets the fault. Expect some water to come out when you open the filter housing by turning counterclockwise until you can pull the filter from its housing. Clean out your filter, return to housing turning clockwise until seated and recap the tube and place in the holder, refit the cover and plug back into the wall. Fixed. You may also need to lighten the load a bit but I always try full on load anyways. If it fails again just lighten, unplug wait >1 minute then replug and run.

Regarding solution #4: This has worked for me in the past, but now it is not working. The water in my washer/dryer is refusing to drain. I can drain it manually through the drain but there is nothing clogging the area that I can access by removing the filter housing. Has anybody experienced this? Could it be clogged further into the system and - if so - any idea of how to handle it? The washer will fill and wash, but errors out when it is time to drain.

Regarding the "LE" : there is a chip that must be replaced. You will need to contact a service person.

LE error on LG 2277HW

Over-sudsing is the main cause of LE error codes. Using non-HE (high efficiency) detergents or too much detergent will cause stress on the motor. In addition, detergent residue can also cause leaking and odor. Follow these steps to resolved an LE error code caused by over-sudsing.

Step 1: Unplug the washer and allow the unit to sit for 30 minutes to give the suds time to dissolve.

Step 2: Plug the washer back in and press [Power] to turn on the washer.

Step 3: Do not choose a washing cycle. Press the [Spin Speed] key until "No Spin" is selected.

Step 4: Press [Start/Pause] to begin a drain only cycle.

Step 5: After the drain only cycle has completed, remove the clothing items from the machine. Turn the power back on and select [Rinse and Spin] and then press [Start/Pause]. This will remove excess soap suds and light residue from the drum. Repeat this step until no visible suds are in the drum of the washer.

Has a large load size been used with a gentle wash setting?
Gentle wash cycles such as Perm Press, Delicates, Hand Wash, and Wool/Silk should only be used for smaller loads. Because the cycles are more gentle while tumbling and spinning, too many items in the drum can register as an issue with the motor. In this instance reset the unit and run a test rinse and spin cycle.

Has the washer been overloaded?
Single bulky items or large loads can add extra weight to the drum and place stress on the motor. Remove some of the clothing and restart. If the issue is still present after a few items have been removed, unplug the washer for 30 minutes to allow the motor to cool and then restart the cycle.

LG washer notes:
Problem:
An occasional LE error but always a slow or no spin.
Solution:
A Red wire going to the Hall sensor was intermittent. You can test this from the main board connector down to the connector on the hall sensor by checking continuity. There is an intermediate connector down by the motor/hall sensor so you can isolate the problem even more. Problem was in the short wire harness that connects directly to the motor and hall sensor. Could not find the open point of the wire so added a new red wire and integrated it into the harness.

How can I make the water drain from my LG WM0532HW washer with an LE code. BTW- it's had the hall sensor and the main board replaced already.

You can turn the power on, and hit the spin speed button, and then start it. It should drain out.

If your still getting an LE error, and already have replaced the Hall sensor, it's most likely the Stator. If you know your date of purchase, this is most likely still under the 7 or 10 year warranty. Meaning LG pays for the part (over $100.00+),

Code LE, will not finish the spin cycle

It's very important not only to use "HE" (High Efficiency-Low Suds) type detergent--but to use the correct amount.
Nearly all brands of "HE" detergent have incorrect dosage instructions.

The correct amount is as follows:

HE: (2) Tablespoons Per Washload

HE 2X (double concentrated) : (1) Tablespoon

HE 3X (triple concentrated): (1) Teaspoon

This reduces/prevents:

1) Musty Odor

2) "LE" Error/Interrupted Cycle

3) L-O-N-G Cycle Times (longer than time displayed)

4) Insufficient Cleaning Results

5) Small Water Leaks from the air vent behind the washer or at the
front door gasket

6) Damaged Hall Effect Sensor (on 2007 or older LG washers)

7) Reduced Spin Speeds (laundry not spin-dried effectively)

Unplug your machine for a few minutes or more and plug it back in. This will fix the LE error most of the time.
