If your surround sound receiver unit has rca audio inputs(red/white), you can hook up any brand of DVD player that has rca outputs. You would hook the yellow output from DVD player to yellow input on TV. Hook red/white output from DVD player to red/white input on surround receiver. Hope this helps.

It goes Audio Out of DVD to Audio IN of TV or Amp. The audio out of a TV must go into an amplifier, not just a player. A player does not have an amp built in. Not the add on type that you have.

well if you have purchased the blue ray its ok and if not its better because even by using dvd player you can get surround sound and that is possible if you play dvd which comes with 5.1 Audio coded on it so its better to save money than going for blue ray.

the sound needs to all run through your tv to your bose system, thats how i have mine hooked up.

You need an audio cable as well. It is stupid i went into currys and they said for your home cinema system to work you need a HDMI cable and a audio cable its stupid that they don't come with the system really.

This is due the the DVD issue, so please check the dvd audio support as well 5.1 channel enabled on your player to get the surround sound.
Please keep in mind that if the DVD supports 5.1 channel then only you can here the surround effect.
