Remove the lift pump and make sure its not on the back of the cam ,it will never work like this ,then remove the pipe from the carb end and try putting some fuel down it to prime and wet the valves inside the pump ,if that doesnt work check for a porous pipe froim the tank to the metal pipe that runs to the pump ,if that doesnt work then look inside the tank ?

After you dump the fuel in the throttle body it will continue to run on its own or die as soon as it burns up all the fuel you dump in? Do you have access to (Noid lights)? Are both plugs attached to the distributor?

SOURCE: fuel pump is punping gas to carburetor....but

Fuel filter in carb is pulgged, there is usally a brass filter just behind the fuel line connection to the carb. that is plugged or worse yet you float needle valve is stuck. sometime you can losen the needle valve up by smacking the float bowl a couple of times with the plastic end of a screw driver. sometimes that will losen it up. Other wise you will have to remove the top of the carb and clean the float assembly.

first of all you have no carb its fuel injected, at least you know you have spark, now do you have fuel pressure??, is the fuel pump working?/ if you have fuel and pressure then you have to check signal at the injectors, so if you have fuel pressure and a good injector pulse the next step is to check the injectors, this may require removal, good luck

SOURCE: 1989 dodge dakota, 6cy truck....no fuel reaching

Hi, you can check the fuel pump by removing the fuel pipe from the carb then make sure their is fuel in the tank as these can have faulty fuel gauge so even though it shows you fuel is in the tank it could still be empty, so if you take the main fuel line of the carb then put some rag under it then get someone to turn the engine over, then if you have fuel coming out you know the fuel pump is working and the problem could be more serious such as carb trouble or even head trouble, how ever if you have no fuel and you are sure their is fuel in the tank then the chances are your going to need to replace the pump then you should be up and running.

let me know how you get on or if you need further assistance ok

1996 dodge dakota, used bad fuel, won't start

Pump the tank dry of the fuel using the electric fuel pump, just jump the fuel pump relay to get the pump to run and remove the supply line to the injectors and attach a hose. Use extreme caution around gasoline, no sparks, ground the container to the truck.

New filter new fuel pump won't stay running

Well your engine has a carb, so it could be dirt in the carb, or a vac leak, or several other possible causes.
Does the choke close when the engine is first started ? Have you checked the fuel line to see if the pump is providing gas ?

89 dodge d159 318 will not start unless spay ether or gas into carb, starts immediately then burns off ether an stalls. not getting fuel to TBI

sound like you have either a clogged fuel filter or a bad fuel pump
start with the fuel filter first keep it simple first
if that don't work for you then pull your fuel line off and cycle the key and see if the pump is putting out fuel
if you don't get fuel then change the fuel pump
hope I could help
leave some feedback if you could
good luck

I have a 1995 dodge caravan with 3.0 engine that is not getting fuel. i have replace the fuel pump and the relay and the fuse is good also. what am i missing that i need to check?

If you can pull the fuel line, past the fuel pump, off, turn the motor over to see if gas shoots out of the fuel lines. If it doesn't your fuel filter might need to be changed. Also try to see if your getting fuel past the filter useing the same method. After that pull your air filter off so you can look into the carb to see if fuel is being pumped to the carb. Be careful if the car backfires thru the carb. it can catch fire and the flame will pull the gas to the carb and it will keep burning and get bigger and hotter. I had this happen and I just stuck a shop rag in the carb and put the flame out. Don't burn your car up, your house, your self etc.

primer pump in carb is bad it's easy to fix and will need to buy carb kit to get it all it is is a small rubber piece that helps pump gas into the carb good luck.

Truck won,t stop

Crack your fuel line before the fuel goes into the carb. crank it while inspecting the fuel line, fuel should pour out. If fuel doesn't come out check your fuel pump.
