My Toshiba Satellite A45-S250 laptop has a problem where only the keys that double as a function key (the number pad keys, etc.) type characters and all others do not. At first it seemed like the num-lock was on, but when I pressed "Fn-F11" for the first time, these keys now type their normal characters but all the other keys that do not double as function keys still type nothing. To make matters worse, pressing the "Fn-F11" does not change it back to num-lock mode. I tried "Fn-F10" and other function keys a few times, but nothing seems to change it. I then rebooted the machine. When I started typing from left-to-right across the keyboard starting with "Q-W-E-R-T-Y..." all the letters typed a character in notepad except for 'Q'. But after 'P', the '[' key produced a Tab character and things went back as before where only the keys that double as Function keys typed something and all the others do not. A second reboot now kept things this way; I couldn't get the other get the other keys to type anymore. Some of the keys that do type type their character (e.g., 'J' types 'j', 'K' types 'k', etc.) but some type something else that isn't printed on the key itself (neither the character nor the Function value printer on the key itself). I don't believe that the hardware is broken because I was able to get typed keystrokes from the keys in the top row except for the 'Q' for a moment after the first reboot. Also the fact that exactly the keys that double as function keys are active and the rest aren't lead me to believe that some setting is forcing the "Fn" key to be locked or something like that. Please help if you have any experience with this issue.
SOURCE: HOW TO GET TO THE RAM IN A45-S250
You will find the memory on the Toshiba A45-S250 under the keyboard. Snap of the grill that also has the on/off button on it, just above the keyboard. You will find two screws holding down the keyboard and another screw near the middle holding down a small silver piece that is holding down the center part of the keyboard. Lift the keyboard from the screen end toward you. Memory is located under a clear plastic flap. The power should be off and the battery removed during this operation. Be sure to touch some metal piece to ground yourself also. Good luck.

SOURCE: Toshiba Satellite A45-S250 DVD/CD Drive
The CD drive is held by two screws on the bottom near the small handle you use to pull the drive. Take out these two screws and it should slide out rather easily. If it doesn't check to see if you removed the right screws. It doesn't matter how many screws you remove, just so long as you put them back in.
SOURCE: How do I remove the back of our Toshiba Satellite
I've actually done this. I used the pictures here: http://www.irisvista.com/tech/laptops/ToshibaA45/Satellite-A45-remove-hinges-1.htm as a guide.
I did Step 2 but only removed 4 screws.
In Step 4, they forget to mention that you have to move a lever to release the CPU.
You want to be careful lifting it out. It's actually two pieces. The chip and the heatsink are stuck together with thermal grease. If you don't break the grease seal, you'll be able to keep it in one piece so that you can see the dust as shown in Step 5. Then you can put it back together.
If that chip unsticks from the sink, you'll probably have to regrease so that the grease will conduct heat like it's supposed to.
SOURCE: toshiba satellite a45-s250 bios password removal
try this man:
first: download hiren's boot cd
Second: burn it using nero
third: boot it at hiren's boot cd
fourth: after booting from the hirens bootcd choose bios/cmos
fifth: use bios!
sixth: browse for any passwaord there, but do not use the blaster, it can cause system failure, i think the admin password for a45-s250 is ami..
hope this helps you
