Could this be the motor?
It is possibly the motor, but more likely a bad transmission. If the washer agitates, the motor is working OK, but in spin cycle, it turns the transmission the opposite direction, and the spin clutch on the transmission is likely froze up. The burning rubber smell is just that. The motor is turning, but the tranny won't allow the belt to turn it, thus burning the belt.
Could be belts slipping or a bad motor going - what's it smell like - burning rubber or an electrical smell?
SOURCE: Squealing noise during spin cycle
The spin cycle activates the fast mode on the motor, squealing normal occurs due to belt slippage. I would check your belts (look for cracks. Check the belt tension as well, most washers have an adjustment, normally on the motor that allows you to increase the tension of the belt.

Well it is ethier Belt, Cluch ,motor ,Or transmission. But it does sound like your transmission . The loud clunk is the brake in the gear case ( Trans.). It might have broken off.
