A bit like saying my car will not start, if no brightness, set could be shutting the picture tubes in a older projection set down (if it detects no vertical or horizontal sweep).
about the only easy thing (a brand and model might help) would be if the filament voltage that goes to all three tubes in older projection sets is missing.......

Your have problem in the power supply, since there is sound meaning the other section were working. Your Raster is missing or the horizontal and the vertical or your dont have high voltage to run the tube screen. Either the problem would be open Fuse or open resistor on the power supply or the Horizontal output stage damage.

It sounds like the picture tube may be weak (because it's orange) but it going to half ascreen is not caused by the picture tube but likely a vertical circuit problem. If this problem happened suddenly (going orange) then the picture tube is probably good and at least worth bringing in for an estimate.

Sony Videoscope TV continuous hissing sound from back of tv and picture seems to be getting worse model kp 46c36 year 1997 once tv has warmed up hissing sound stop but picture still a little iffy

Ur high voltage is dying,the FBT,the flyback transformer is the prob.the big block of plastic with a red wire a with a cap hook to the CRT(crt tv).

I have a 1997 60 inch Mitsubishi projection TV. Just yesterday, the picture went black. I still hear sound but no picture. When working, there would be a 1-2 second delay between when the TV was turned on...

i have a sony projector XBR TV and the picture went out and the sound is good. the model is SER# IS XP-53XBR45. It was purchased in 1997 and I have had no problems. Can you tell me if it is the Projector Lamp?

It's a 1997 TV, I recommend buying a new one. If you have to get it repaired it will cost you more than the TV is worth.

It is either going to be a shorted blue CRT (picture tube) or a driver board for it. I suspect the CRT itself.
