Defrost timer location on Kenmore model 106.56542400

Where exactly is the defrost timer on a Kenmore Coldspot s/s fridge, model 106.56542400?
frost is blocking the evaporator coils completely. The freezer is cold but the fridge does not get cold because of the frost which blocks the air from moving.
I want to test the defrost timer, but am not sure where it's located.

Kemore coldspot #106.73904300.. Fridge stays running all the time, back of freezer is frosted up . Shut down, let it completely unthaw, checked bi-metal seems to function O.K. fridge works fine for 4-6...

Find the timer and advance it to defrost. If the heater comes on, timer is bad. If nothing happens, either bad heater our defrost. Time should be located with the thermostat. If it is a electronic timer, turn t-stat off and on with 2 second pauses 5 times. Should go into defrost, if not bad board.

Water drips from the freezer into the fridge.Upon disassemble, there is ice buildup under the coils. kenmore coldspot model #71184101

The defrost timer or the defrost heater element has probably failed. Go to the link below and enter your exact model number; you should find a line-drawing illustration and parts list for your fridge that you can use to locate these items and normally also determine how to remove or install them:

I have a kenmore coldspot, my freezer works but my fridge does not, i hear the fan work, it used to blow cold air from th ebottom of the fridge when we first had it and now it does not model number...

chec for frost on the back of the freezer compartment in the lower section if frost is forming the fridge is not de frosting properly a very comon problem usualy caused by the timer not advancing and turning the ellements on could also be caused by the ellements or defrost termination switch you will have to turn the defros on manualy and test for power through the termination switch and to the ellements .the termination switch will show an open circuit if it is above a certain temprature usualy around 45 degrees.

Kenmore Coldspot freezer too warm

Hi,

Remove the access panel in the freezer section to expose the evaporator coils. If the coils in the freezer section get plugged up with frost, this frost will block the evaporator fan motor from blowing the cold air around. The fan blade can also hit this frost and either become noisy or stop altogether. Locating the defrost timer can be tricky....they are often hidden behind the back bottom corners of the fridge at the bottom, in the last few years the timers have been located in the ceiling of the fresh food section, and some behind the cold control cover. Once you locate the defrost timer, slowly turn the screw like wheel in the middle of the defrost timer with a straight screwdriver until the fridge shuts off. You are now in defrost. If the defrost heater(s) comes on now, replace the defrost timer and defrost thermostat. If the heater(s) does not come on, you can ohm test the defrost heater for continuity or volt test for 120 volts to the heater(s). If you have no power to the defrost heater(s) you can also bypass the defrost thermostat to see if the defrost heater will come on, join the 2 wires together to bypass the defrost thermostat. If the heater now comes on, replace the defrost timer and defrost thermostat. If the heater itself is bad, defrost the fridge with a hair dryer, replace the defrost heater* and defrost thermostat. If the defrost timer seems "hot" to the touch or is noisy ( like a ticking or screeching noise )...replace it.

Hope this helpout......

Stopped cooling.

It is possible the cold control has gone bad. Or the defrost timer is stuck in defrost, or even the compressor has gone bad.

Kenmore side-by-side freezer is fine but fridge is not

Yes, Airflow is what cools the frig. Check for frost buildup on the coils indicating a problem in the defrost components r a fan not running fast enough. Eric
