Have 2 model ESE2 machines. Lamp on #1 quit working. Replaced with new bulb, still not working. I moved working bulb from machine #2 and installed it in machine #1 and it does not illuminate. Also moved the original bulb from machine #1 that did not illuminate into machine #2 and it DID illuminate. Concluded that bulb is not cause of problem. Used meter to test power feed to lamp socket in machine # 1 with result of no power to socket. The machine does have power to motor and sews fine, all functions other than lamp continue to operate. Machine manual does not show or mention a fuse in the power line, but do not have a wiring diagram for the machine. Any knowledge of source of problem or location of and access to fine fuse ? Have not tried to remove the entire case to gain access and manual does not have disassembly instructions. Help & ideas are welcomed.

The green light indicates that you have power to the sewing machine, nothing else. Thus there are two possible issues. There is a drive belt that connects the motor shaft to the sewing mechanism. This could be loose or broken. See the replacement part here: https://www.sewingpartsonline.com/motor-belt-brother-pc3000-sewing-machine.aspx . The balance wheel will turn the linkages to the needle bar without the motor. The other possibilty is that the replacement foot pedal isn't working. The universal foot pedal you need is for select Brother/Babylock machines, https://www.sewingpartsonline.com/foot-control-w-cord-brother-xc6651121.aspx . Double check that you didn't get one for a different machine manufacturing series.
It may be better for you to take the machine to a shop. Accessing the belt requires opening the machine. If you aren't careful, you could get hit with high voltage from a capacitor or you could damage the electronic components of the machine.
It's very possible the manual for the Ese is the same manual for the Ese2. In any event, the manual should be close enough to be helpful if you are unable to locate a manual specifically for your machine.
Or it could be the incorrect bulb for the machine or if purchased from a secondary market, ie China, etc. I've purchased a replacement bulb from eBay and even though it was guaranteed to work in the machine, there is a lip on the bulb that prevents it from being inserted completely into the machine. Might be best to purchase an authentic replacement bulb from a dealer.
The Babylock Esante ESE1 and ESE2 hoops are not compatible with the Esante ESI1 or ESI2 hoops. The Babylock ESI1/2 used the same hoops as the Brother PC7000 and PC7500. The ESE1/2 use the hoops that are compatible with the Brother PC6500 and PE700 series embroidery machines.
I wish that I had better news for you. This site has hoops for sale for both the ESI1 and the ESE1: http://www.allbrands.com/categories/871 . If you need hoops for either machine, use the compatibility data on each machine type to help you find more vendors that may have the embroidery hoops.
Looks like you need a new bulb. This machine takes a bayonet style bulb, part number 2PCW is the generic one but you can pay more for a frosted one ($2-$4). To replace you need to remove the lamp cover. Depending on the age of your machine you may either need a phillips or #25 star (torx) driver. The screw is hard to find, it lift the handle up and look just to the rear of it on the left side, there should be a small square hole. The screw is under it. Alternately there is another, smaller hole just to the rear of the first one. You can take your seam guide (or a coat hanger) insert it and push down about 1", the lamp fixture is spring loaded and the end of the bulb will appear below while you push down. While holding down on the spring, push up on the bulb and turn to the left and it should pop out. (note some early models do not have the access hole to the screw, in this case you need to remove the top tray insert, 2 very small phillips screws, then you can see the lamp cover screw).
As to the battery problem, there is a cover on the bottom of the machine that you can pry off. There are 2 AA batteries inside. Remove and replace, you may need to clean the contacts if any corrosion is seen.
