Benjamin Air Rifle Model 342 not building pump pressure

  1. The rifle had been stored away for many years. Tried to fire a sample shot, found the pressure to be much too weak even after more than normal pumping.
  2. I also noted that the bolt action has abnormal slack. This could also be allowing air-pressure to escape when firing.
  3. Please advice me how to rectify the problem and where to get parts for this madel.
  4. Thanks for your time.

I have the same problem with my air rifle not building up air pressure. Can you purchase parts to rebuild the air plunger? It looks like a leather thick washer. If parts can be purchased please pass along. I have had this rifle for 40 years.

Hi, I have a pump action air rifle which will not built up any pressure. You give it one pump and then it releases it's air when you begin your second pump. Do you have any idea why this may be and how I can fix it. Please and thanks

Springs tend to loose their performance after a few years is air rifles. Check also the seal/o rings on the piston rod and the blow hole. I found waxing it with Vaseline makes it last longer and seals more.

I need your expert advice. I live in Katy Texas and house backs up to the largest park in this part of texas. We have larger game animals but my problem is I am being runover by larger varmits. ...

WalMart carries a nice 22 caliber air rifle by Crossman. They also carry the 22 caliber pellets. 1200 fps for this rifle should take care of your varmints.

How do i change my benjamin air rifle pump seal?

pyramidair.com has a seal kit. it also comes with a diagram. Benjamin and Sheridan air rifles do not have springs to propel the pellet. also never use vasalin. specifically for a Benjamin or Sheridan you need to use pelgun oil (also found at pyramideair.com). use pelgun oil because it is a non detergent fossil compound) the main intention is to condition the seals every 250 rounds. never use silicon based lube for this gun specifically. silicone lube is for spring air rifles such as break barrels.

Air rifle will not pump up

The cylinder needs to be oiled. Its the same concept as a car jack.

Go to a gun store or a Dicks/Bass Pro/Wall mart for the oil.

Good luck!

Model 342 Benjamin Franklin 22 caliber air gun

I recently purchased a rebuild kit for my 342. I bought the kit from airgundepot. It was the kit for the
392 and I modified it a little. On the new plunger, you have to drill a hole in the center of it the same
size as the pin's smallest diameter. You can use all of the parts in this kit except for the small o-ring. I think it sold for about 39 dollars or so. My rifle was manufactured in 1972 and it fires like new.
