How much voltage should this charger put out under no load?
My charger reads 28volts.
Hi again, Because of the age of these batteries, this may or may not work but you have nothing to lose. The theory here is that over time, oxides built little bridges in a ni cad battery between the anode and cathode thus shorting the battery, shocking the battery burns those bridges and if the cells are still intact it will work again. So take your stronger battery or cables and being sure to observe the correct polarity touch or brush the positive to positive and negative to negative several times. The first times will spark and then as the bridges burn the spark will decrease. Put the battery in the charger and the charge light should come on. Leave the battery in the charger until it reaches a full charge. If after this procedure you still have the defective indication, then the cells were bad and you will still have to replace the battery. Good luck, please let me know how this works for you!

I'm checking because I have two dead batteries that wont
recharge. After getting joboo1's answer I checked my charger
and saw that it was a rapid charger.
Thank you
There are three lites on charger. RED-fast charge
YELLOW-charged
GREEN-defective
The batteries are approx. 15yrs old but not over used going
sometimes two yrs without bieng used. When batteries were
iserted in charger a YELLOW andGREEN lite lit indicating
defective battery. Left in the charger over-nite would not charge.
Yes I do
Hi, 15 YEARS??? Wow, These batteries normally only last about 5!!!! I am going to share a secret with you that may help you. Do you have a car battery charger? or a atv or riding lawn mower battery or a pair of jumper cables?
Hi again, If you have two dead batteries, what do the lights on the charger indicate, and how old are the batteries?
Hi, If this is a rapid charger, that's about right, but why are you checking?
