Either u got a bad ice maker or the spout going into the ice maker is leaking, ect.

  • Anonymous Sep 03, 2007

I would make a test cord bypass icemaker and test water going to icemaker ... watch as the water comes in icemaker.. check for leaks in spout.. ice maker controls water flow when filling just need plug in few seconds at a time

I have a KitchenAid side by side fridge, type 25SSA, water is leaking from bottom of ice maker down front of freezer and into ice bin, how do I stop leak?

Is the refrigerator and the ice maker level? Does it appear that the ice maker is over filling or slowly overflowing due to a leak in the Click here=> W10408179 Refrigerator Water Inlet Valve? Look in the rear of the ice maker where the water fill tube enters the ice maker do you see water freezing and running down to the ice bin from there? Let me know.

Ice maker is overflowing

If water continues to flow slowly after filling the water control valve for your model will need to be replaced=> 241734301 Water Inlet Valve

If ice maker simply over fills and then the water turns itself off then this points to a problem with the ice maker=> 5303918344 Ice Maker Assembly

The icemaker fills up and shuts off, but the pile of ice is higher than the rear of the ice container, and ice keeps spilling over into the bottom of the freezer compartment when you pull the upper basket...

Hi and welcome to FixYa, I am Kelly.

This is a symptom of the inlet water valve leaking by when it is supposed to be closed / off. Over time the diaphragm in the inlet water valve fails and the result is that ice will build up on the back area of the icemaker / it will start making the ice tray sheet with ice in the back and on the bottom.

Here is test you can do yourself to check for a dripping / leaking inlet water valve. On the back of the refrigerator there is a 1/4" plastic tube that connects to the round head ice maker fill tube.
1. Turn OFF the ice-maker
2. Remove the 1/4" plastic line from the ice maker fill tube and place it in a bucket or large pot. Leave it sit for 8 to 10 hours.
If there is any water in the bucket / catch pot after 8 to 10 hours ... the inlet water valve has failed and will have to be replaced. (not a hard task btw)
I had to replace my own refrigerator water inlet valve this year for the same reason.
If you need help locating parts just respond with a model number and I will gladly help you.

Thanks for choosing FixYa,
Kelly

I am not sure this is the right refrig. I have a model 253.78259800 top freezer with a model JD-21 ice maker. The ice bucket keeps filling up with a solid piece of ice. It makes and drops cubes, then water...

there s a adjustment but it only controls /like 1 to 2 oz of water . its prbably the ice mker unit or the water valve . .. ice mker tell water how long to let water in and if valve is bak it might not shop off causing water fill . change water valve first . then ice maker if needed .. icemker might have a bad tray and some cubes do not drop / if so next fill will over fill causing problem . mm

Ice maker filling with water but not freezing into cubes.

Try swapping the wires on the dual water inlet valve. Then try the water dispenser. The water should go to the ice maker. This will tell you weather or not the ice maker valve is working and if the line is clear.

The water inlet valve on the back of unit opens when the ice maker needs water. If the valve doesn't seal good because of sediment or wear it will continue to drip and when the water reaches the ice maker supply tube it will freeze. You can take the water line off the valve and watch to see if it drips.

I just replaced my icemaker on a kenmore fridge #2537481240g I heard the soleniod(water valve) enage and the ice maker has gone thru 3-4 cycles but still no water? any suggestions?

Fill tube above ice maker may be frozen. Remove the fill line from the back of the unit where it comes out of the solenoid valve, force ice maker into a harvest put hose in a bucket and see if you get any water when it actuates the valve, the valve may have a clogged screen or not opening at all. If you get water, then you have a frozen fill tube

Ice maker wont fill

Hi, It sounds like the inlet valve needs changes. Could be the plunger inside the solenoid is not lifting to allow water through. If you remove the line going to the ice maker off the inlet valve, try and cycle the ice maker and put the inlet valve over a bucket to see if water is coming out when it gets voltage.
I hope this helps. Please let me knwo if I can assist you further.

Thanks

Ice maker drip into ice bucket and manual cycle leaks more water

Need to take the ice maker out to measure the amount of water input into the ice tray. In this case the tray was already full (from the leaking valve). The spillage I saw was just the tray overflowing. Time for a new valve.

Sub-Zero 632 Ice Maker Leaking into Ice Bucket

Ice Maker is overflowing and leaking into the ice bucket: There are several things to check for.
Go for the easy stuff first, make sure the icemaker is level, some of the plastic liner fridge's will move and allow the icemaker to tilt over and leak. Other troublemakers..... the fill valve
staying on and over filling the icemaker..... the finish sometimes comes off the icemaker body and all the ice cubes don't come out. This will allow the new water to fill on top of an icemaker
that still has a ice cube or two left inside the body, if you have had trouble with black specs in your ice cubes, this may have been the beginning of your finish problem on the icemaker body.
On the module style ice makers (Whirlpool, Maytag Family, Sub Zero) the printed circuit in the
module head often wears and the contacts become too long and allow the icemaker to over fill = new ice maker or new module head.
waterfilladjustment.jpg
Older style icemakers: This gear is bad for breaking and the icemaker quits turning to eject the ice.
You can remove the front cover to see the gear.
This is a common parts breakdown of the older style icemakers

Water fill volume: The water fill adjustment screw will change the fill volumes by changing the fill time.
One half to one full turn usually ( approx ) is equal to 20cc ( 0.68oz ) to 40 cc.
The correct fill is usually 130 to 150 cc ( 4.5 to 5.0 oz ).
When a water valve is replaced the fill volumes must be re-checked!
