I have a Kenmore HE2 Plus front loading washer that has a tear in the door seal and now it leaks. Is there a way to fix the seal or do I need to get a whole new seal?

You will probally need to replace it, here is a link that will help Replacing a door seal I have used 100% silicone to plug the holes. This has held up for several weeks without leaking. I clean the area with alcohol and rub a layer of pure silicone thru the tear trying to get it on both sides. Try to keep the inside layer not to thick so clothes do not get hung up on it, let it dry for 24 hours and it should hold.
If this is a Kenmore FRONT LOADER you need to remove the lower toe panel directly below the door to inspect the cabinet interior for the source of your leak. The following link explains:
The most common source of leaks on a front loader is the rubber door bellow. The bellow can develop cracks, rips or tears with age and needs to replaced. The following link explains how:
Open the door so it is 90degrees from machine, see if it is upright. if not undo the door bolts slightly and re alighn door. Good luck and feel free to give feed back.

you will have to replace the boot glove as this is what i think you mean, the part were the door fits into,if there is a rip in this rubber boot then water will leak through teribly, the round wire you refer to is the wire that goes around the boot to hold this securely to the washer preventing it from leaking, hope this helps, rgrds, paul
