Hi Dunnbiker, i just recieved a Huffy girls 20" sea star bike (product #50370) and the front wheel dosn't fit. The metal piece in the middle of the wheel measures about 5 1/2" long. Is that...

Do you mean the axle? There are no published measurements for these things but it doesn't sound wrong or problematic. What's the issue?

How is the "ten speed"

I am answering, but hoping this is not a trick question. ALL Bikes from that time period had two shifters, one the speed gears and one to represent the Hi-Low Function of the gears. In other works, when shifter one was move, it moved the chain on the front sprocket to the Low Gear ratio, Which would translate on the rear 5 piece sprocket as gears 1-5. These were change by slightly moving the second shifter, which in turn would move the chain a slight bit and onto the next sprocket in the line. You could go in any combination of gears from 5th to 1st from 1st to 6th, all by moving the correct level, which would move the appropriate chain guide and mode the chain to the correct sprocket. Let me know if that helps at all. I tried to remove the technical in order to keep it simple. I can make it harder and more technical if you would like.

If you are trying to get to a certain answer, please do not hesitate to ask any question, other than where to get parts, cause that part of Huffy's business is no more and Huffy, really isn't the same Huffy as was in 1989. No really, different organization all together, they basically sold the name and ops.

How do i raise handle bars on huffy 18 inch bike

not knowing the model,, look down at the gooseneck, ( the piece that holds the handlebars) you should have a nut or a recessed allen head right in the middle of that piece,, loosen it until it spins freely, But don't completely remove it,, grab the bars on each side and work then back and forth as you straddle the front tire with your legs to keep the tire from moving, Pull up as your doing that and you should be fine

I cannot unfold my huffy kids scooter. Where is the lock button located?

If it's a 2 wheel scooter, there is a silver disk on the right side of the hinge. Push it in really hard. Once it's done it's easy to do again. I couldn't get it the 1st time, my husband did it for me. The disk is silver and it's solid, in the middle of black hinges. I hopethis helps!

I have huffy sprint scooter and after putting it together the brakes just don't work correctly. I have rechecked everything and it is as though there is extra slack in the line and won't pull the brake.

At the point that the cable attaches to the brake it runs through a bolt with a nut attached. Loosen the nut (just enough to move the cable), squeeze the brake caliper slightly (about 1/2 inch clearance to the rim on each side), pull the cable through until tight and re-tighten the nut. Make sure both ends of the cable housing are seated (in the lever and the brake adjustment) before this adjustment.

I have an older Huffy, with grip shifters. The shifter (left hand) is almost impossible to shift the chain from the small sprocket to the middle or largest sprocket. The deraileur seams to be moving freely...

First, try to isolate the trouble like you have... obviously the derailieur is moviong freely. Next, I would disconnect the shifter cable from the derailieur (make sure to mark previous position of cable) Next, shift the left hand grip to see if the grip moves freely, you've already replaced the cable, soooooo, disassemble the grip and grease or replace the grip shift unit...hope this helps
