Manual I need to download a operating manual for a Whirlpool fl 243-500. I have no idea how to use it or what all the settings are for? Can anyone help me with this?

Sorry but this forum does not supply manuals direct; it's just made up of ordinary guys and gals, probably at home, with experience of addressing problems and giving guidance for free on the web ;-0)

You will need to type into your search engine/web browser 'whirlpool washer manual' and you should be presented with a number of sources from which you can either download for free or have to pay a nominal amount. During the process you will be asked for the actual model number!

Fl means flood
you either have a bad flood switch or something is in the pump.
the pump is located under the washer
if you where to tip back and remove the 3 5/16 inch screws and look to the very right you will see the pump.
it could be these 2 things and or it could be something in your sump balls. which you would need special tools to gain access to.

The FL error code means:
Flood Condition:
FL flashes if any overfill condition occurs. This condition occurs when excessive water in the tub causes the overfill switch to trip. The control must realize that the trip was due to an overfill condition instead of a suds lack condition in order for FL to be displayed

With an overfill condition, the beeper repeats a warning every 10 seconds with no time-out. The pump is cycled in drain mode for 30 seconds on, 30 seconds off until the overfill switch resets or power is discontinued to the unit.

Press STOP/CANCEL to clear the display.

This problem I see on these are the water pumps getting clogged with lint or other things, causing the pump not to pump all of the water out at times.

There is a check "valve" in the drain assembly that seems to sometimes cause problems with the FL error code. You can remove this piece, and might avoid changing the pump.

fl,,flood condiction,,the pump is trying to get out the water,,replace or try and un block pump..onthejob

you can try unplugging the washer and letting it reset the system. thenplug it inand press the spin/drain button. if it still gives you the flood condition chances are the pump is faulty and needs to be replaced. it may be covered under whirlpools warranty for the law suite against the washer. otherwise you can get the pump off ebay for cheep and install it yourself. its just a little messy so if you do it yourself make sure you have a shop vac around to **** up the excesswater.
