My tv wont change channels and every channel is listed under "To Be Announced". i have tried unplugging the tv and the cable box and nothing seems to work. Model #: 40PFL5505D/F7
You don't say whether you have had it working at that location before. When you move a TV between houses, it is necessary to retune your channels. Would recommend returning to first time installation.
If you haven't moved it recently there are other reasons why this might happen. 1) There is damage to your aerial caused by weather, 2) A power surge or loss of power to the memory battery on your video board has wiped the frequency information from the memory [the memory battery is like a watch battery that keeps a small amount of power going through the system to it can keep your settings when unplugged], 3) The internal tuner board for your TV has packed in.
If '1' is the case, obviously you need your aerial fixed; if '2' is the case you need to retune again [you'll know if the battery is dead if you have to retune every time you turn on the TV]; if '3' is the case you either need a replacement AV board or someone to solder a replacement tuner board to it.

Go directly to theback of the set via the back RCA connectors(yellow, red, white) or component video, and turn set on Aux. If it works the tuner is Messed!

Hi.
you should go into your tv's setup menu and go to the tuner settings and make sure it is set to CATV (cable tv) and not Antenna/Air also splitting a cable to many times can cause the signal to weaken and gain a lot of noise/distortion that could be an issue that can only be solved by having the company come to the house and do a test ALSO when your in the tuner menu in under your tv's setup menu try adding a non local channel manualy and then see if the tv will tune to it, if so then you might have to add them manually at the worst... my guess is that it is not set to CATV/cable tv hope this helps and if not i hope someone else can.

internal breaker, hopefully that xbox is plugged into a 3prong ac outlet. unplug the tv from electricity for a half hour and that circuit breaker inside should auto reset.

Some of these TV were equipped with very short connections from the infared board to the small signal board. Remove some of the shrink tubing from the wires of the IR cable to relieve stress on the individual wires. Trim the other end of the cable as well. We are talking about one half to three quarters of an inch.If this does not help you will need to order a new IR cable. Please show this info to an authorized Philips dealer and have them do this for you. Thanks for asking and show a few hands of support.
