When the pull start gets locked, you have to release water pressure from the wand. I had the same problem last year. When the pull start gets locked, you have to release water pressure from the wand. I had the same problem last year.

if you cant pull it possible engine failure or debris in recoiler --check and inspect pull cord --remove plug and try to pull if engine turns it was air locked and should be able to start if locked solid have an internal failure -----if cord wont rewind return spring failure ,,rope jammed or debris
On some pressure washers the engine will be hard to pull start if there is pressure in the hose. Release the pressure in the hose by squeezing the wand trigger, then try starting the engine. Also If you had it running and then stopped it, you need to release the hose pressure again to have an easy time of pull starting it. This is what I have to do with mine once the pump is primed and before starting it up. I hope it's as simple as this. If not it could be an engine problem of some sort.
Check out this on YouTube. DOA and lid lock stuck locked. You pull up the top of washer and pull little red string to release lock. I was so happy to find this I wanted to share.
First. Turn off the water....Release all of the pressure off of the hose and pressure washer. Try and pull again. If it still won't pull check to see if there is oil in the engine. The engine may have locked up.
It sounds like the pump is seized. Make sure any pressure has been released by pulling the trigger on the gun. Sometimes this will allow you pull the cord. If the pump is seized, a new pump would be in order.
ok i assume it is a gas powered pressure washer, if the pull rope wont pull out at all you either have a locked up motor or pump if it is out and wont go back in or recoil then the spring under the engine cover has either broke or come unwound.also if it wont pull out do youhave water applied to pump? if so turn off water and disconnect water hose to relieve pressure and try to pull it then then if it starts then apply water.
first turn off the water to the machine. pull the trigger to release any trapped pressure in the high pressure hose, then try to start the machine. if it starts then turn on the water to the machine.
it may be that the engine is trying to start up under load.... if this doesnt work let me know.
Potential reasons for it:
- Door Lock/Switch Assembly Failure - In this case it should be replaced.
- Door Lock unit is broken or removed from the door.
- Look for disconnected wires to the door Lock/Switch unit.
- Door Lock/Switch unit Failure
You should remove machine's top cover and then you will have an access to the door lock unit.
Be aware you should discconect machine's power cable first !!
Good luck!
