There is a generic type of water filter that fits all Whirlpool and KitchenAid refrigerators with a water filter located in the base grill below the door.
Water filters are located either in the toe kick at the very bottom of the unit, or inside the fridge, usually in the upper right corner. If equipped with one the filter number will be printed on the filter it's self. You provided a partial model number. Pleazer Appliance...
Hmmm, on that model number i searched 4 of my online parts suppiers and not a one of them shows a listing for the filter so despite what the manual says i belive that model does not have a built in water filter
I understand that you can not locate the water filter for your unit. If you have a water filter in your unit it will be located in one of two locations at the bottom of the unit in the grille or in the top of the refrigerator section on the right side in the rear corner. If the filter is not located at one of these locations then there is no filter on your unit. You will need to put an in-line filter in your water supply line.

Without knowing the manufacturer and model of your fridge, it will be impossible to tell you exactly.
Some manufacturers have the filter installed on the back side of the fridge, some will have it behind an access panel. Others will have the filter located at the bottom kick panel on the front of the fridge. Others will have it located in the refrigerator compartment, behind an access panel.
If you post the make and model, perhaps I can find the user manual for you, maybe a source for filters as well. Filters are typically replaced, and not cleaned.
down in the front grill at the bottom of the fridge you will see the filter and just the the left of it you will see a button. push the button in and that will pop the filter out a bit. pull it out and put the black cover that was on your old filter and put on your new one. then just push it in
Depending on the model, it is inside the fridge. Some other models the filter is on the bottom grille, twist kind. Look for your manual or look for those clues
I can get the service manual for you. Here is what the manual tells you on page 101.
WATER FILTER CHANGE REMINDER
(Select Models)
For some refrigerator models featuring
water filters, the Water Filter Change
Reminder function monitors the life of the
filter and provides a reminder when it is time
for the filter to be changed.
When the system detects either 12 months
of usage, or the filtering of 416 gallons of
water (whichever comes first), the CHANGE
FILTER indicator light will illuminate. This
indicates that the water filter should be
changed and the light reset.
To reset CHANGE FILTER light: Press and
hold the LIGHT and LOCK pads until the
CHANGE FILTER light blinks (approx. 3
seconds). The control is now reset for 12
months or another 416 gallons. Thanks, Sea Breeze
All of the cabinets I have worked on have had external water filters, so unless yours is really special you will normally find the water filter located behind the fridge freezer in the incoming water supply line (typically 4 - 6 inches long 2 inches diameter). Some cabinets now have a timer to indicate a long duration, none that i have come across monitor water quality. Hope this helps.
