Have QX3+ driver for my intel play microscope but poses a directx8 problem with my vista computer..which directx8 driver will i download?!!!already have codex downloaded...pls help which directx 8.0 will i download

Uninstall the existing Intel microscope software and then follow the following instructions:

Instruction for installing the QX3 or QX3+ Microscope with Vista

Note, DO NOT use the software from the CD that came with the microscope.

DO NOT plug in the QX3 microscope until Step 4.

Step 1. Install the QX3PLUS.EXE software downloaded from Intel:

Step 2. Download and install the QCODINSTL.EXE software from:

Step 3. Download and extract the QX3 Drivers from:
http://hyperslug.s3.amazonaws.com/IntelQX3driverXP.zip


Step 4. Now, plug in the microscope.

When the "Found New Hardware" wizard appears, select "Locate and install driver software (Recommended)", a message "Installing device driver software" will appear. If you click on "details", you will see "Searching Windows Update", after a while you will be able to select "I don't have a disc. Show me other options" and browse to the folder with the extracted QX3 drivers from Step 3. above. The hardware should install successfully.

Double-click on the QX3+ icon on the desktop and the program should run.

    Everything was fine until Step 4 - Windows 7 did not recognize the drivers

    Sorry to resurrect this thread... but I have the exact same issue with directx8. Basically I do everything as described in the guide, but when installing QX3PLUS.EXE the installer quits saying I need Directx on my system. I'm running Windows7 and trying to install directx 8.1 didn't seem to do anything.

Here are the instruction for installing the QX3 (or QX3+) Microscope with Vista and Windows 7. You must be using a 32-BIT VERSION. The QX3 is not compatible with 64-bit versions.

Before you run the QX3Plus program right click the icon, click on "Properties", click the "Compatibility" tab, check the box next to "Run this program in compatibility mode for:", then choose in the drop-down box "Windows 98 / Windows ME". You should also check "Run as Administrator" if your account is a "Standard user".

Step 5. Now double-click on the QX3+ icon on the desktop and the program should run.

INtel Play QX3 microscope 64 bits driver

http://download.cnet.com/Intel-Play-QX3-Microscope/3000-2110_4-104288.html worked for me Win 7 64 bit. You may need to run in compatibility mode. Search for that if that turns out to be the problem.

I looked up for the drivers for your Intel Play QX3 Microscope on Intel's website.You can check this link
For the time being the driver has not been released for this device.Last driver update was on 8/28/2006 which was before the launch of windows 7.We need to wait for the compatible drivers or use this device on windows XP platform
