Have QX3+ driver for my intel play microscope but poses a directx8 problem with my vista computer..which directx8 driver will i download?!!!already have codex downloaded...pls help which directx 8.0 will i download
Uninstall the existing Intel microscope software and then follow the following instructions:
Instruction for installing the QX3 or QX3+ Microscope with Vista
Note, DO NOT use the software from the CD that came with the microscope.
DO NOT plug in the QX3 microscope until Step 4.
Step 1. Install the QX3PLUS.EXE software downloaded from Intel:
http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&Inst=Yes&ProductID=160&DwnldID=4419&strOSs=All&OSFullName=All%20Operating%20Systems&lang=eng
Step 2. Download and install the QCODINSTL.EXE software from:
http://www.intel.com/support/intelplay/qx3/sb/cs-016002.htm
Step 3. Download and extract the QX3 Drivers from:
http://hyperslug.s3.amazonaws.com/IntelQX3driverXP.zip
Step 4. Now, plug in the microscope.
When the "Found New Hardware" wizard appears, select "Locate and install driver software (Recommended)", a message "Installing device driver software" will appear. If you click on "details", you will see "Searching Windows Update", after a while you will be able to select "I don't have a disc. Show me other options" and browse to the folder with the extracted QX3 drivers from Step 3. above. The hardware should install successfully.
Double-click on the QX3+ icon on the desktop and the program should run.

Everything was fine until Step 4 - Windows 7 did not recognize the drivers
Sorry to resurrect this thread... but I have the exact same issue with directx8. Basically I do everything as described in the guide, but when installing QX3PLUS.EXE the installer quits saying I need Directx on my system. I'm running Windows7 and trying to install directx 8.1 didn't seem to do anything.
i cant even find qx3plus.exe...links dont work
Here is an updated link to the QX3 files:
