Shortly after the warranty expired, our Siemens WFXD5201UC Front Load Washer began to stop mid-cycle. At first it was "occationally", now it is "usually". But, it is still random, and happens at odd times in the cycle.
It most often stops with about 21-35 min remaining on the 59 min Regular cycle but will go as low as 1 min remaining. Occationally it will complete the cycle and beep but the clothes will still be soaking wet. The times I have caught it in the act, it is after the pump runs to drain the water, the drum doesn't turn to spin out the load. All the cycle indicator LEDs go off except the "Door Locked" indicator, no error codes show.
Even the "Rinse and Spin" cycle will hang up. I've tried the "Quick Wash" cycle and others with the same results. Tried other spin selections... no difference
My 1st thought was that there was some high speed spin contact for the motor that it wasn't recieving. I found the schematics and tore everything apart and nothing like that. The motor controller appears to be a VFD-like device that linked to the main controller with only a couple wires (some Comms protocall???). I would think if it was an issue with the main controller it would be more consistant?
Thanks
I am having the same problem with my washer. Did you ever get it fixed??
I have the same issue on an IQ500. The washing cycle is not complete and keeps on going but without starting the spin / centrifuge cycle.
Unfortunately it does not give any error message nor it stops. It just keep going although it shows 1 min left.
The only program that works from one end to the other is the 15 min one.
The problem is with the main control module ( push button spin dial and display) Im in the process of having my second one replaced. The problem is with the start/stop button that will not engage unless you hold it down for more than a minute...or durring a cycle the button will engage an pause your wash cycle. My opinion its a design flaw with the board, maybe moisture is reaching the switch causing corrosion or something like that. But its happened twice good thing i have extended warranty the part alone ranges from 365.00-479.00 on line part# 00661096
plus labor. At that price, you can get a brand new very nice lg
model# WM3570HWA for 800 bucks check it out at best buy lowes home depot etc
you can fix it yourself but you will still be out 3-4 hunderd bucks on a eight year old unit

Usually answered in minutes!
I pulled apart the pump cleanout and it looked good. The pump seems to work good, it pumps out all the water. You can hear the water pump to drain, the gurgle as the last water leaves, then the short period of dry running of the pump.
The machine just won't spin out for some reason.
I read something about an imbalance sensor in the manual?? It doesn't add up though... the manual says it will reverse rotation to balance the load and try again if imbalance is sensed and that isn't occurring.
do either of you know where i can find a pdf version of the manuals for this washer? i just bought one used and need to find the owner manual. thanks!
By the symptoms you describe...could be a blocked jamed filter, clogged pump or worn out motor brushes. Nothing else.
Try the motor brushes, could be the cheapest and easiest, gud videos on YouTube as to how-to.
Thank you all for your answers.
I have later found out that it was... in fact... surprise... the heating element.
And.. yes, I have also changed the Electronic Board (2 times).
The easiest way to find out, please let it run at 60 degrees. Wait to see if the water gets hot or not. If not... here you go, the heating element is gone.
You buy one for about 50 euro (dollars), check on youtube (there are some British tutorials from espares or so) and you can see how to change it. Just one last thing, for this type of wash machine you can change it from the Frontside (not from the back).
I hope this helps you guys. I had a lot of troubles caused by such a silly thing.
