How can I fix this problem?
A "tE" error code is more than likely the "thermistor". Supposedly can't be serviced by untrained individuals (thus the directions to call for service) but the thermistor can be found easily by tilting the machine on its back. It is mounted to the back of the drum housing. I removed mine after getting a "tE" error...cleaned and replaced...no problems since! No screws needed to be removed. My thermistor is a small, round, black rubber grommet with the metal sensor pushed through the center. I removed the entire grommet. It easily pops back into place.
Totally agree with jnc1991. I had the tE (an L with a line through it) error on my LG front loader and my local appliance store sold me the thermistor for $7. I layed the unit on its side and accessed the thermistor through the bottom. It plugs into the bottom of the tank. Blue and white wires. No screws and 1 tie-wrap. (Leave the rubber grommet in - just pull the thermistor rod out.) Works like a champ!

The source of a "tE" error code is more than likely the "thermistor". The other possibility is the heating element, or its power source on the control board, or both. Or some bad wiring from any of these two components to the control board. I chose to check the easier-to-troubleshoot and the more common source of the problem first, the thermistor.
First I disconnected the AC power.
The thermistor is easily accessed by first tilting the washer backward about 30-45 degrees leaning against the wall. I propped it up with a block so I can crawl under the washer safely to access the thermistor. I reseated the connectors by removing and reinserting the connectors several times to clear any possible corrosion on the contact points. I didn't remove the rubber grommet of the thermistor. Instead, I slid the thermistor's metal body out of the rubber boot, cleaned it and slid it back in the boot.
I ran an empty load and set it for high temperature setting. While it's running I pressed the temperature button and the display showed the actual temperature reading in Celsius. Somewhere on other forum they indicated that the expected temperature at high temperature setting should be around 70 degree C. Assuming the built-in heater is functioning, the washer should be able to raise and maintain the water temperature at whatever level it's programmer for. Well, in my case the reading was creeping up ever so slowly and at the end it still read lower even though the washer still ran through the test completely without error. I wasn't completely happy with the result as with the wide margin of the temperature feedback, the machine may act up again and the same tE error may resurface.
As an EE, I just happened to have a tube of heat sink compound grease at my disposal. You can get this from Radio Shack for just a few bucks. I crawled back down and took the thermistor metal body out of the rubber boot again and put some of the heat sink compound on it, enough to liberally cover the whole surface, then slid it back in the rubber boot. The temperature reading is now much closer to the expected value. The machine is working great again.
My te code turned out to be a broken wire at a junction with the thermistor wiring. I separated the joiner, pared the side off the plastic joiner to expose the metal of the connector, since the wire had broken off inside it. I stripped about 3/16 inch off the end of the broken wire and soldered it back to the clip. Now the two wires to the junction are unequal lengths, so I ratchet tied them firmly so they were even for a couple of inches back to ease any load on the soldered joint. After I plugged the junction back together I covered the exposed section by wrapping the junction a couple of time with electrical tape. BUT i couldn't flip the machine over to get to the thermistor as it has the dryer on top, so I had to take the front off it. But it is necessary to REMOVE THE RUBBER SEAL at the circular door, to allow removal of the front panel everyone said a special tool was needed, BUT THE SPECIAL TOOL IS NOT NECESSARY...YOU DO NOT HAVE TO PAY $ AND WAIT FOR DAYS!!..... and LG's illustration of its special tool, in the service manual, is confusing at best. The SPRING has to be EXTENDED to release the light wire retainer that secures the door seal. I MADE MY SPECIAL TOOL FROM AN OLD PAIR OF CHEAP SCISSORS. I simply filed "V" notches on the OUTSIDE of each blade of the scissors close to the ends. The NOTCHES PREVENTED SLIPPING off the ends of the spring when PRESSURE WAS APPLIED IN THE REVERSE DIRECTION... forcing the scissor BLADES APART and thus opening the spring and releasing the retaining wire. The wire only has to clear part of the rubber and can then be rolled clear of the rest. Once the wire is out, the rubber seal is easy to clear away so that the front panel can be removed. When reassembling, the retaining wire can be stretched back in place with your hands only...and the scissors are still useable! Safety..as usual with springs, wire and scissors, protect your eyes.
to remove the spring, I took a 2 cotter pins cotter pin and snuck one through each eyelit on the spring and then used to vice grips to pull the spring apart, worked great
i took 2 cotter pins, one for each side and snuck it through through the eyelets of the spring. I had to put a small bend in each cotter pin. Once through i used a vice grips on each cotter pin to pull it apart. I did need another person to reinstall, as I pulled apart the spring the other person made sure it was in the groove.

I was easy, after locating thermistor, checked connector, it was fully seted, pushed it on all the way, problem solved. thanks
According to my manual,tE says it's a CONTROL ERROR and the solution is to unplug machine and call for service. Hope that helps.

LG Tromm Washing machine te error. The manual says to call for service. Not much help there. The reason for the error is the thermistor circuit (resistive element that becomes less resistive as it increases in temperature). The thermistor acts as a heat sensor. In many cases, the error occurs because the wireing harness is too tight at the bottom of the drum and one of the wires in this circuit becomes disconnected with all of the movement of the drum (unbalanced load, normal cylcing etc).
1. Unplug the washing machine from the wall. The thermistor circuit is at line voltage (110 in the U.S.) and it will bite! So do this first before proceeding.
2. Move the washer out so you can get access to the back of it.
3. Remove the stainless panel (the one that is not painted, it is large (aprox. 16x18 inches). It is held in place by 4 phillips screws.
4. Locate the thermistor connection block near the bottom of the machine, at the center of the wash drum. It is the small white connector that has two wires running to it. One wire is dark blue, the other is light blue. Insure that neither wire has pulled out of the connector. If either of them have, repair the connector and provide enough extra wire ( aprox. 2") to provide cable relief.
5. If the cable connector and wires are ok, there are other solutions here that recommend either cleaning or replacing the thermistor.
Good luck to you.

te means the thermistor is not in circuit,( contacts could be dirty disconnect plug and reconnect )should work on cold water or if it is washer dryer combo the thermistor on the dryer could be faulty
SOURCE: LG front loader te code
te error code means the thermistor needs to changed. You will need to call a qualified LG technician to resolve this issue. Sorry, no washy till fixed.

If you look at the error codes that your suppposed to affix to the side of the washer it has a tE error. It sales call repair person. We have had LE errors before.
tE error code says unplug and call for service. anyone know what problem is
My machine turns on and beeps several times. all the lights on the control knob light up but when you turn the knob nothing happens. The error code is tE which I found out means a faulty Thermistore (whatever that is). I have unplugged and plugged the machine. drained the water and cleaned the filter. nothing.
Its gotta be LE. There's no error code called tE. Please look closely and post back
