Windows media player shuffle not working

I added my external hard drive to media player so that all the songs on my external hard drive would show up in media player. This is about 500mb or music but since doing this it will not shuffle anymore it just plays the songs in order.

The only option is at where the control buttons are located. Try updating media player or another player like Winamp.

SOURCE: sound device

The reason for the message will be the fact that windows doesnt recognise that there is a sound device available because the driver for your sound card or onboard sound is not built into XP and therefore you will have to find out what make of audio you have and install the relevant driver.

SOURCE: media player not playing mp3.

Hi Faraz,

Are you aware if there was a windows software update before you restarted the system? What i suggest is to restore the settings back to the working time.

You may run the system restore. Just follow the instructions below.

1. click on start then go to All programs, click on accessories then click on system tool and system restore.
2. a pop up window will show up. just look for a specific date to click on to restore the settings back to the working date and time.

note: your files are still intact.

keep me posted!

regards,

JEff

SOURCE: when playing/ripping a cd the drive stops after 1 song

Open Control Panel. If you use Classic View, select Default Programs otherwise select Programs, then Default Programs. Select 'Set program access and computer defaults.' Select 'Continue' at the UAC prompt. Click on the expansion arrows on the right hand side of the 'Custom' option. Scroll down to where it says 'Choose a default media player:' Select anything except Windows Media Player' and make sure that the 'Enable access to this program' checkbox is checked, then click OK. Click on 'Set program access and computer defaults' again. Click the 'Continue' button on the UAC prompt. Click on the expansion arrows on the 'Custom' option again. Scroll down to 'Choose a default media player:' and select Windows Media Player, again ensuring that the 'Enable access to this program' checkbox is checked. Click on OK, close all open windows, and reboot the machine. This should solve the problem.

If you still have problems, let me know and I'll look for other options.

Windows media player

No 500mb of songs is not a problem for Windows Media player. I have in excess of 400GB of music on a network hard drive and it copes without difficulty. If you look at the bottom of Media player you will see a pair of icons to the left of the play button. The one furthest left is the "Shuffle" button.

How does the older version ipod shuffle work

Use iPod shuffle to:
- Load songs for listening on the go
- Listen to podcasts, downloadable radio-style shows delivered over the Internet
- Listen to audiobooks purchased from the iTunes Store or audible.com
- Store or back up files and other data, using iPod shuffle as an external disk

Install iTunes in your Lap.. the connect the iPod to the computer using the doc and add the songs to the Music Library then to the iPod

Xbox 360 Not Playing Music Through External Hard Drive

In windows media player 11, click on the small down arrow below library and select media sharing. Check the box for share my media then turn on you console. I dialog box will pop up asking you to approve file sharing. You can then customize your options for that device. If the dialog box dose not pop up you have a firewall problem. For the Iomega Media Drive, you have to use the software that came with it. Open the program click on configure, select the folders icon, and look next to your media folders and make sure DLNA is on otherwise your console cannot access those folders.

Music will not show up on player after download

two suggestions:
put player in msc mode by going to the settings menu and choosing USB mode, then change to MSC
then plug in and open the player in My Computer menu
if you do not see songs on the player, back out and format player at the drive letter prompt, then add songs either manually, drag and drop to the player (not the music folder!)
or sync the songs with windows media player 10 or 11

Skipping songs

Just find the songs details, and unclick skip when shuffle!! OR Windows media player 10 and 11, are almost the same, I use both, and I don't really know the difference. Go to start, click contrl panel, then change or remove programmes. Go to windows media player 11, and press delete! It won't delete it, it will change it back to windows media 10!!
