Broken Display I have had this detector for a few years now, and it continues to work well for me. My problem is that the text display doesn't work. I still hear the beeps and bloops from it, but it no longer shows the band (X,Ka, etc.) or the bars to tell me how close it is. Thing is, when I press down on the top of the unit, the text appears as long as I am applying pressure. Is there a way to fix this so I don't have to press down to get a display? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

What is the difference between the Whistler XTR 265 and the xtr438

The XTR-438 has Text display (vs. the XTR-265 Icon display), filter and TFSR modes (TFSR = Traffic Flow Signal Rejection). This mode helps reduce the alarms from traffic monitoring transmitters.

Radar says cal???

There is no text display on a 1640 also this model doesn't have voice capability. Now, in order for the compass to properly function the unit does need to be calibrated. There is a sticker on the bottom of the unit that gives step by step instructions.

I hav3e a Whistler 1765 unit and when I tried to transfer it to a new car it would not calibrate, even after 5 tries. It was "stuck" on 315 degrees. Then the display changed and was stuck on...

There could be few reasons for this.
1. There is strong magnetic field near the radar detector. This could be even car speakers.
2. There is power lines going above the place where you are trying to calibrate.
3. To complete calibration you need to press both the volume control buttons while the vehicle is parked.. The display will show "CAL MODE". Then slowly drive at least 2 complete circles while in calibration mode. Then again press both the volume control buttons for 2 seconds until it beeps and shows " CAL DONE" in the display.

Previous homeowner turned off GE Spacesaver 2.0 microwave display and now we can't turn it back on. Tried directions given to press option button 5 times then #1 to turn display back on. Doesn't...

I was not aware you could turn off the display, maybe it is just a bad display and you need to replace the board??!!
Ive been repairing Microwaves for 37 years. i do not remember seeing one where you could just turn off the display.

Please help.. my monitor has no display and my don't even beep. the LED in the monitor turns back to orange after few seconds. cpu, disk drives and ram are working..

This is one of the serious problem that arises because if you set your monitor with a high resolution with high frequency, then the monitor doesn't display anything as it's frequency is out of the rang or limit of the monitor's actual resolution capacity. Each monitor will have a limit of max frequency that is said to be the Refresh rate (for each and every resolution setting the display is refreshed.) When high resolution is set with high frequency that is not supported by the monitor, it then display a message like "frequency out of range". If you press ESC key within the few seconds of this setting, it will revert back to its initial resolution. But if you continued with the setting of same High resolution with High frequency, the monitor is not going to display anything because its frequency is out of the range. Most of old monitors like CRT's etc doesn't support 1024×768 at a refresh rate greater than 60Hz.

Display won't light

This is most likely due to a cold solder joint for one of the display leads where they are soldered to the edge of the circuit board. Or, possibly, the display itself has gone bad.
