This code keeps re-appearing on the display panel of the water dispenser. There is no cool air flowing into the upper chamber of the refrigerator when this code comes up. What can I do to get this corrected? Thanks.
The FF code means that the freezer fan isn't working properly. This fan circulates the cold air into the upper part of the refrigerator.
This could be a fault with the main control board, the fan or the fan motor. Access the back of the refrigerator and check if the fan can turn freely. If it doesn't, remove the obstruction (or let the ice melt) and try your unit again. To reset the code, unplug the refrigerator, wait 30 seconds and plug it back in. If the fan starts and then stops, then you probably have a control board issue.
You need to check for voltage from the control board to the fan motor and to the fan itself. If the power stays constant at the fan but it stops and starts, it's the faulty component. The wiring could get damaged so check the resistance while you are checking for power.
There are a number of points to check for failure. Contacting a refrigerator repair technician to check all of the components may be a better option.
I hope this helps.

ER FF - found in another post = Error Freezer Fan. Removed freezer back panel (inside freezer), defrosted ice build up around fan. Error message gone for now. Easy fix at midnight - 20 minutes. Will be looking into ice-up cause.

I'm no major appliance repairman. However, after reading several posts, I investigated the issue further since I received an ER FF on the front panel. I have a LFX25960SW refrigerator. I pulled the top and bottom baskets out, and was able to take the back panel out from inside. There was a solid block of ice built up around both fans and wires. I took a blow dryer and gradually melted the ice around the fans and wires. Then, as I was able, I pulled the remaining ice chunks off of the wires. I put the thing back together and it cleared the message. My wife says no more LG appliances for us. :)

I had the same problem. I can tell you that simply unplugging the fridge and letting it defrost isn't going to work. You need to get take it apart.
I had the Er FF code about 2 months ago and let the freezer defrost for a couple hours and it started working again. Then two days ago I got the error again. This time I decided to get inside there.
First and foremost, UNPLUG the fridge and TURN OFF the water!
Next empty everything out of the freezer and start taking it apart. You have to get everything out of it to get that back panel off. This includes the ice maker and the rails that the drawers slide on.
Now that the freezer is completely empty there are two screws that hole the back panel on. In my freezer one is a white screw high in the center and one was a gold screw in the little panel that the ice maker hooked up to.
Next grab the back panel by the little fins on the top of it in the middle. Give it a good firm pull, but take care not to yank it too far... it's still connected by wires back there. When I pulled my panel out I found a HUGE chunk of ice on the top of the panel just to the right of the fan that feeds cold are to the fridge. Get that thing off of there taking care not to damage the foam insulation and watch those shiny metal fins that are behind the panel.
While you're putting it back together try to dry everything off as much as possible (I tried see the bright side of the whole evolution and realized I could really clean my freezer).
Once it's all put back together plug that baby in, turn on the water, and enjoy the next four hours as it gets back to being cold.
I'd say you need moderate tinkering skill to do this. If you only own one screwdriver and you never use it you should probably call someone.
Hope this helps!

check for a child lockout button it will look like a tiny padlock ,press and hold for 3 sec.(could be the freezer door light switch)
