Auger/blades getting jammed by single ice cube (inspected/ran ice dispenser with door open and few ice cubes present). Have emptied and defrosted entire dispenser assembly multiple times. Still, it jams. Removed the auger/blades from the crusher bin to inspect whether spacers were missing/damaged. Seemed like all parts are there and in tact.
Greetings,
In looking up this partial model # KSRS25, it shows you have
the model with the large ice bin inside the freezer.
My question to you is: Does the auger motor run when you
push the ice lever?
2 trouble prone parts on this model. Both in the case of NO
auger motor activation.
#1 broken pin that hold the micro-switch on to the switch bracket.
Item # 15
Next #2 and the Worst, A Broken Blue wire or wires in the wire loom
under the freezer door hinge. Un-repairable new door needed if still
available.. You have to get creative restoring the power.
So before I continue, Does the Auger motor Run?
And if it does, remove the bin and close the door switch that turns the
light off, and tape switch shut. With door open and ice cradle pushed
in watch the auger drive fork turn? Is the the key hole stripped in the
fork.(rounded out) May need the fork or motor. #9 & #2
SOURCE: ice dispenser in door clogged up or frozen
I would contact Hotpoint direct for this one. It sounds like a design fault to me.
What I think may be going on is that the cubes are melting too much, then refreezing lower down.
Set your freezer to -18, and the fridge to +2 and see if that changes things any.
Check seals in that area. Where is the moisture coming from to generate the frosting? - Is the location high in humidity?
If the ice door is open that will need to be repaired
first before solving the ice melting and stopping the ice auger from moving.
What may be happing is the ice door stuck open causing warm moist air from outside
the refrigerator to be drawn in covering everything with frost and possibly locking down auger and causing the
refrigerator to run continuous. What is the model number found around the fresh
food section? Thanks Sea Breeze
