Is the security light on or flashing ?
The yellow wire goes from the key switch to the neutral safety switch, then to the starter. So bypassing the neutral safety would make the starter crank the engine, but would have nothing to do with the rest of the engine.

SOURCE: 2002 Impala 3.8 will not

You need to check and see if the security light is on or flashing. If it is then the security system is what is keeping the vehicle from starting. You need to get the codes from the Theft Deterrent module and from there it will need to be diagnosed to find the problem. The Theft Deterrent module and the PCM is what allow power to the starter once it sees that the correct key has been used.If you have a worn out key this could cause it not to work.So if you have a second key you can try that first. If the light is not on or flashing then you have to check the crank fuse on the left side of the instrument panel.Let me know what you find out.I`ll be glad to help you out with any codes and tell you what they are.Good luck.

SOURCE: the car won"t crank, 1992 Volkswagon Passat

If the switch (neutral safety switch) is broken, it will not crank regardless whether you jump the battery or a new battery is installed. I don't have specific manual for your year that's why my advice is as in general. With a remote starter tool, bypassing the solenoid wire with remote starter which is connected to the positive terminal of the battery of it's other end. Once positive current flows from the battery, through the remote switch, flowing towards the solenoid, the starter should engage indicating a bad wiring harness connection from ignition switch. If it doesn't crank at all you may have a bad starter assembly and needs replacing. If your starter is clicking using it's own battery power, your battery is low of charge or your charging system is malfunctioning.

Pls, rate this suggestion, thank you.

I have a 1981 Chevy k20 350. I am having problems with not starting let alone cranking over. I have a brand new starter n battery in it now. When I turn the switch over I can hear a clicking sound coming...

The ign switch has a wire that goes to the small post on the starter.. if this wire is not connected the starter will not turn the engine.. likewise.. if your ign switch is not sending a electric to this post same problem.. You might also have a burnt "Fuseable Link".. or a bad ign switch.. yoiu can try jumping across the large battery cable connection and the small starter post.. this will tell you the problem is not in the starter..block the wheels. e brake on and truck in Park or nutural.. another thing there might be a nutural saftey switch if its an automatic.. or a clutch switch if its a manual trans.. I do not think your truck has a starter relay.. do not know what is clicking.. Post a comment here when you find out what is wrong.. it helps everyone..

2000 chev wont start at key

From the ignition switch there is a yellow wire that is for the starter. probe it when trying to start. If you have no voltage replace the switch. Also, I believe there is a fusible link in the wire by the starter. It will be a different color than purple. Probe on the back side of it to see if there is voltage at start up. If so, replace with the smae color link.

"2003 Chevy Impala won't start". Car would not

The alternator is not charging,or the battery wont take a charge. If all accessories work fine when its running after you've boosted it,its likely the battery.

Car was rinning perfect. One day it would not start. there was nothing, no clicking ,bell and guages were working. Jump start was nothing. Installed a new battery there was nothing. Went bact back 2 hours...

It sounds like you have an issue with your PassLock security system. I had the same with my 2002 Impala. Key turns OK, but won't start, won't crank. Wait 20-30 minutes, and car starts normally. There is usually a clue from the Battery and Security lights.
The problem starting to happen once a month, and eventually 1-2 times a week.
There are several write-ups on this problem for several GM cars for 2000-2006(?). Search this website, and search the web.
The official solution is to replace the ignition switch. The best solution is to bypass the Pass Lock system. I went ahead and did a full bypass, which involves cutting wires and adding resistors to the ignition circuit. I have not had a problem since.

My 2002 Toyota Camry won't start, I tried jump starting it, but the starter won't even turn over or crank.

well in this case it can be the starter. you need to check if you get power to the skinny wire on the starter wile you crank. if yes then it is the starter. in worst case if you drove the car with out oil or if it got over heat too much. engine could be locked.

Purple solenoid wire shorted, no pwr coming from ign switch

look for a 5 amp fuse, crank fuse in car, not under hood
