Somewhere hidden in the stove, should be the engineers spec sheet. It should be one of these images
Almost all electric stoves vent the oven through a hole in either the back right or rear burner. They can get very hot. I am surprised that your control panel is burned. It is only dangerous if you place a combustible over the burner. I have had some people do this and it has melted it. i haven'y heard of a fire from this but it could happen if it was hot enough.
I had a problem with my Whirlpool range. It would not regulate temperature properly on the two large 8" burners. I found the problem was the "infinite switch". The infinite switch regulates temperature of the electric stove elements.
I found this video (see youtube link below) informative and it solved my problem. I found the correct infinite switch on Amazon (my infinite switch was this $21.00 one: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004XLEJ7M/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1). The fix to replace 2 infinite switches (both 8" burner switches) took me 1 hour, including cleaning the floor under the stove (nasty!). All was well afterward.
Make sure cook had it set to bake, not broil (broil on runs top element), renters often forget that . First turn off electricity to the stove, breaker or fuse. I always confirm its off by trying a burner, doesn't heat in 30 seconds confirmed off. Element loops from the back wall, held up by a little standard. Usually there is a small screw under where the element goes into the back wall on each side, there is a little metal plate there that the screw holds down, remove the screw and plate and pull out element a little bit and will see where wire has a slip on connector onto element, slip those off, carefully unsnap little support (like clips to it) or unscrew from oven bottom. Then go to appliance parts dealer. Not appliance repairman but every time I did this it was always nearly the same exact way.
the sensor is built on to the top of the surface element if it was me id replace both the element and switch so you only have to go in once but its probably the element
even though it's electric? What about the two that shut off on their own???
(thanks for the reply!)
