STINKY CLOTHES I have tried EVERYTHING with this washer to keep it from re-molding and smelling but NOTHING has worked. We have even tried those Afresh tablets that you use once a month. Now it is to the point that all of our clothes stink when they are done washing and drying. Even when you use the towels after a shower your skin has the horrible smell on it. I wish they would buy the washer back from me so I could get a normal top load washer that I have NEVER had any problems with.

Well, I sure hope this helps; My two daughters have similar washers and they told me that they must wipe out the rubber seal around the door; because water and lint and even little sox collect there; and if they don't wipe it out each time, their clothes will smell. The bigger the door rubber; the bigger the collection pocket... One daughter wipes it and then leaves the door ajar between laundries; using a bit of tape to leave it just one or two inches ajar. Their clothes no longer stink.

To UN-stink already stinky clothes; you can wash them with a small amount of soap; and then rinse them with vinegar and soda. Put the vinegar into the soap dispenser and let it flow down before putting a few tablespoons of baking soda in the cup. If you put the soda in first; it will fizz up and overflow.

Also; be sure your dryer is not UNDER drying your clothes; as with the new sensors... if they are damp when you fold them; they will mold right in the cupboard.

Detergent ??? yo are using a HE detergent correct??? foul odors can be attributed to over soaping in clothes this may be a real problem if not and even then you ll need to dramatically cut down on the amount of soap you use.. oneway to determine the "oversoaping " is to take a recently washed sock from the drawer and place it in a cup of water , with oyur fingers agitate the sock up and down in the cup and see of suds form if theres your problem.. this was posted no to question yor laundering techniques, or to be a smarta**, but oyou didnt mention you detergent so just wanted to rule this out.

The washer smells and I try to keep the door open after each load so it can dry. Still smells

have you tried running a load or even running with out cloths and using lots of bleach? that should kill any mold spores. Then keep the door open when not in use so mold can't grow again.
Hope that helps.

Do not buy an LG Tromm front loader unless you want stinky, moldy clothes! The first few months, I LOVED this washer, but now I think the machine is possessed by smell demons! I've tried everything, but...

Stinky clothes are usually the result of washing in cold water. Cold water will NOT kill bacteria.
Add one cup of vinegar to the wash before you start the machine - try it.
The vinegar will kill the bacteria during the wash. Your wash will NOT smell of vinegar.
The dryer level of dryness on most auto dryers needs to be set three clicks toward + on most machines. LG is no different.

are you on a well??
do you use bleach in with your whites??
some well water untreated can cause exceptionally stinky machines, especially if no or very little bleach is used during white washing..
usually if you use bleach in with your whites in normal amounts and leave the door open in between uses there should be very little stinky odor or mold growth.
the mold growing on the gasket is a sign of to little bleach or none being used, and/or a really damp environment for the unit to reside in.
they do make several cleaners designed just for stinky front loader washers..
they might help..
i've been using a front loader for 13 years, leave the door ajar between uses, and use bleach in every white load and have had no issues with stinky unless i or someone else doing wash forget and close the door for a couple days, then it gets stinky but goes away after white load with bleach and hot water..
hope this helps,
best of luck,

I have an older front loading washer Frigidaire and it's now smelling like mold on all our clothes thought it was me leaving clothes in to long but it's not. model #FWT445GES2 serial #XC74463636 . I have...

No recall, Pour 2 cups of bleach into the washer, Wash on HOT water, long cycle. Then wipe seal with dry cloth. This will eliminate the mold smell... To stop it from coming back ALL front load washer doors MUST be left open to allow the rubber seal to dry, Just like you close your shower curtain so it doesn't get musty smelling... 2 hours is about the dry time... wiping the seal with a cloth usually helps too... Stinky clothes

I have the same problem - the clothes smell like they have been left in there for a week - stale or moldy.

It only happens with dark clothes - I have started adding color safe bleach or oxy clean and sometimes a tiny spash of bleach - it seems to have solved it.

Sears has tablets for front load washers that work great. I use one every month and it has helped the stinky washer smell and the bad smell in the clean clothes. It is called Affresh and it works better than any of the cleaners you can buy in the grocery stores.
