Error Correction is turned on for importing audio CDs.
No drivers in LowerFilters. this I look up windows site and have used register editor to look at highfilters and lowerfilters and do not see a problem.
Itunes before worked with my dvr-dvd-rw drives that I had and it seem that the new 8.0 version has problems.

i have a pioneer dvr-111d as well. it reads dvds ok but as soon as i put in a cd-rom it dosent wanna know about it. any help would be appreciated. my email is [email protected].
Did the Pioneer come with its own drivers if so then install those if not search google.com for the correct drivers youll find it will recognize the dvd?.
if you have had two drives with the same problem i would check the ide cable and swap to another one if you have a master and slave twin connector ide cable, or even try the dvd rom on the same ide cable as the hard drive as you know that that ide connector and cable is working, unless you have a SATA hard drive in which case you won't be able to; but will still have a spare ide channel connector to try the drive on.
your dvd only writes to dvd-r and dvd-rw, but writes to both cdr + and - r/rw.
To confirm it go into nero tools and nero info tools and all the ticks in the boxes are what your drive supports
