Parking brake not fully released.

I see there is no adjustment procedure in the manual other than "see your JD dealer".



It appears to be a completely hydraulic system with no mechanical linkage so really no different then an automobile with 4 wheel disc brakes.


Be sure the brake fluid is at the proper level. Check that pads are not excessively worn. Bleed the brake system.

park brake light is come on when parking brake is set position. if light stays on when released the switch is located on the parking brake is defective and needs to be replaced, generally not to difficult to accomplish this replacement

The emergency brake is engaged by a cable system. This cable is adjustable. Tighten the cable to put more pressure of the pads.

It sounds like the parking brake cable had jammed and possibly broke. I would lift the rear of the vehicle in the air and try rotating a tire. If it does not move at all the brakes are locked and need to replace emergency brake cable.

HAVE SOMEONE GO BEHIND THE CAR AND CHECK AND MAKE SURE THE BRAKE LIGHTS ARE ON, IF THEY DON'T WORK THEN THERE IS NO POWER TO THE BRAKE PARK INTER-LOCK SOLENOID AND YOU CAN NOT DIS-ENGAGE PARK. IF THEY DON'T WORK CHECK THE FUSE, IF IT IS OK REPLACE THE BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH.
