Try using www.quickpwn.com
they have the tool to unlock/jailbreak
and also the firmware for the iphone

simple and easily explained. : )

when you upgrade to ios 5 its no longer jailbroken and therefore your sim isn't being recognize. as probably your iphone is locked to at&t or verizon while your sim is from a different company then the lock.

you cant.
when you upgraded your firmware, you lost your jailbreak and your unlock.
