We calling convergence problem. Re solder fly back terminal ( transformer) Replace pico fuse 400mA(little red box fuse) beside fly back. Go to set up, convergence, select auto convergence and your TV will work perfect. I will be here for any future question. Thank you for visit fix ya.
There is a sub-board in this set that powers the convergence circuit. Often a big Ic shorts, two diodes and finally the main fuse. not something you can fix yourself.
Hi, rca`s don`t have convergence IC`s, they use an entirely different system to perform convergence, you have a blown chemical fuse and 3-6 bad solder joints on your flyback transformer. replace fl231 chemical fuse rated at 400ma. right beside flyback (theres 3 of them your bad one is the middle one)and while your soldering re-solder all of the flyback transformer pins and your tv will be back to normal :) video-tek
tHIS is a convergence problem.. first question if you go into the customer setup menu. is the convergence option listed? If you have not got that option i suggest you read "the fl231 problem in the tips and trick section of this website. this can be a simple inexpensive repair..if you do have the convergence option then it can be one of three diffrent boards convergence power, convergence amp or small signal board. and will need further trouble shooting
fl231 is the convergence fuse, and is soldered to the board in proximity of the convergence ICS, on RCA rear projection TVs.
If fl231 has blown, TV usually does not turn on at al, if you get bowed picture, that means that the convergence ICs must be replaced.
The fuse is on the same board where you find convergence ICs, if the fuse had blown, or the pico fuses at the base of the STK convergence ics had blown, the STKs must be replaced. There is need of purchasing the service manual to do the job.
If the convergence is out on that set you most likely do not need to make an adjustment the circuit will need to be repaired. There is a stk on the convergence amp board that needs to be replaced. A good tv shop will run you somewhere between $300-$500 to do the repair
you have a fusible link that has blown. This is what causes the convergence option no be erased from the menu. You will need to locate the blown link and replace it. They are identified by FLpreceeding the location number on the circuit board such FL221 and etc.
If the convergence is missing in the menu in screens, you have a bad reg ic on the convergence power supply the part number is 215530,the power supply is located on the black plastic above the right module with all the heat sinks
You have bad convergence IC's.. If your not experienced in troubleshooting electronics or soldering, you should have a trained tech take a gander at the set. Its not worth risking life and limb to save a few bucks, Good Luck
