Engine won't start, doesn't seen to be getting gas.

Engine won't start. Doesn't seem to be getting gas to the carb. I replaced the fuel filter, cleaned the air filter, no change. I poured a fair amount of gas into the carb to fill up the bowl and the engine started right up and ran great about 30 seconds and then died. I tried this several times with the same result. The replacement fuel filter is clear and while the motor was running, I noticed no fuel appears to be moving through the filter. Could this be a fuel pump problem? Would a fuel pump kit resolve this issue?

Replace the spark-plug, check the quality of the fuel(gas that is mixed or was stored more then three months is stale and wont fire correctly) make sure the fuel and air filter not clogged. If there is no change then your problem may be more technical, a nest may be restricting the govenor or you missed something with the carb and there still is debre causing it to stall.

SOURCE: Fuel problem on Sanderson 623 teleporter

Wow.....I never knew they made DIESEL lawn mowers. Sweet!

But I tell you this, I can almost guess to a "T" they have the same problems a Cat C-15 475HP diesel motor has when she runs out of fuel, and which you already done.

Air Lock. Like you just said. I seen it many a time with those motors (truck driver here). I have seen them fight you time and again on bleeding air out as well, even having done it 8 times in a row, and taking 15 minutes.

What we used to do, is simply pull the air filters, and give her some Ether shots to get moving (rough idle) and get them to KEEP pulling fuel (and air too), and THEN bleed out the air. The point is to KEEP her running, and KEEP on bleeding, until she stops fighting you.

Worked every time. Though......don't empty much Ether into her, just AIN'T good for the cylinders, man! (I have seen some guys make those motors SCREAM off of 2 cans of Ether at once. The horror! The pain!) But the motors kept on motoring!

If you can keep her running off of just the Primer, then pump away dude, and bleed at the same time.......

If it starts cold and runs for 10 min then it sounds like the fuel cap is not venting properly, try runnin engine with fuel cap loose and see if it dies. 9 times out of 10 the fuel cap is the culprit. Let me know

My car turns over but won't start, when started

The year make and model would be handy to know.
You would need to check the fuel system and find out why you don't have fuel to the injectors or carb.

The exhaust valve opening at the beginning of the compression stroke is designed to make the engine easy to crank.
Since you know the exh. valve is opening, it means you have torn into the engine (maybe ?) because you don't really see it any other way. Did you put it back together correctly ?
IF an engine has spark, proper timing, compression and fuel it will run.
Since yours runs for a bit, I say you have a carb/fuel delivery problem.

Generator starts than shuts down on under voltage

The problem is related to the engine. When a load is put on the generator, the engine's throttle will want to open to maintain RPMs. If your carburetor is misadjusted or gummed/varnished, when the throttle opens, you will get a fuel starvation and the engine will die. If the generator is used regularly and hasn't sat for a while, first check to make sure the spark plug is good since you don't want to make a carb. adjustment using a worn plug. After you adjust the carb. manuallly flick the throttle to ensure that the engine doesn't 'stutter' or die out. If it does, increase the gas in the air/gas mixture and if that doesn't solve it, remove, disassemble and clean the carburetor.

There is a vent in the tank, it is situated on the right hand side of the tank, close to where the fuel hose exits the tank, the early vent looks like a round white pellet, the later vent is a white plug with a nipple on the top, the later vent will just pull out with long nose pliers, the early vent has to be extracted useing a self tapping screw, this of course will destroy the vent.
