I recently formatted my computer and keep windows xp. However, when I got to the Device Manager to see if anything was missing, I saw a yellow exclamation mark next to "Video Controller (VGA...

The exclamation mark means you don't have the proper driver installed and the device may or may not work properly. If you don't have the driver CD's you will have to find the driver by searching the internet for it, download it, and install it. The hardest part can be finding the proper make and model of the device. If you know that already, it should be easy. For example if your VGA card is a ATI VGA Wonder, search for that. If you don't know, there is a means of finding it. In the same device manager where you saw the exclamation marks, click on Properties for the device, then click on the Details tab. You will see something like PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_01DF&SUBSYS.......... Use this string (yours, not my example) in your internet search and you will probably find the vendor, make and model, then you can search for a driver. Once you have the proper driver downloaded, go back into the Device Manager and click on the Driver tab of the device's properties. There is a button labeled Update Driver that starts a wizard, which will let you choose the driver you downloaded.

I recently formatted my computer and installed all the necessary drivers and such. It's just basic stuff as I'm no computer expert. However, when I got to the Device Manager to see if anything was missing,...

The "default" video-driver in Windows gives "basic" support, e.g., 800-by-600 at 256 colours.
Get a better device-driver, for higher resolutions, and 32-bit colours.

Is the computer's video-adapter "integrated" into the motherboard,
or is it a separate add-in video-card?

If the former, access the motherboard manufacturer's web-site, and search for a device-driver.

If the latter, access the web-site of the manufacturer of the video-card, and download a device-driver.

Install it.

Video Controller (VGA Compatible)" is not installed my computer is acer travelmate 292lci intel centrino mobile technology

Is there a yellow exclamation mark next to the video controller when you look at it in the control panel device manager. If so, right click on the affected device and select update driver software to allow Windows to search and install. Other than that, go to the Acer website and search for the specific VGA Controller driver for your laptop in their service and support pages.

Hello,

I'm sure those devices listed have a yellow exclamation mark beside them. This is an indication that you need to install their drivers.

The drivers for those devices are not installed and they need to be installed for them to be able to perform their functions.

This is the main reason why your computer is not connecting to the internet. If you try to use internet via cable, it won't work because the Ethernet controller is not installed and Network controller is in charge of wireless.

So install the drivers for these devices and every thing is going to be alright.

Good luck.
