Magnet fell out of dispensing drawer and I don't seem to be able to find where to replace it. Washer will not start without it. Kenmore model 417 44152400
Re: Magnet fell out of dispensing drawer and I don't seem...
I dont see why there would be a magnet in the dispenser draw in the first place,,,, is it possible it somehow got in there by accident and when it fell out you thought it belonged in there ?
No, magnet is in the parts list for the dispenser drawer, it doesn't show exactly how to install, just about where it goes. No, magnet is in the parts list for the dispenser drawer, it doesn't show exactly how to install, just about where it goes.

It sounds like it is at the bottom of the hose where it enters the drum.
First get one of these and see if you can grab it by removing the detergent drawer and reaching down the hole and grabbing the edge of the cap. From the parts schematic part 310 has some bends in it, so that can be a blessing or a curse.
Or tip the machine backwards against the wall and remove the hose from the drawer where it enters the drum, although this one seems to be at the top, so remove the rear console and remove the top.
If it really is inside the drum between the drum and outer drum, that requires a full strip down, but the fact you said water pours out of the dispenser drawer leads me to believe it is the pipe.
Hi
Error DDO means dispenser drawer open. This error appears when the washer senses that the dispenser door is not closed. If the dispenser door seems to be closed then it seems to be an issue with the magnet. There is a little magnet attached to the right hand side of the detergent drawer which activates a reed switch & signals the washer that the drawer is closed. This magnet might have moved from its place and that's why you are getting error DDO. Pull the drawer out and check the handle part for a magnet. When the drawer is closed the magnet activates a switch in the console that tells the control the detergent drawer is closed. Hope this helps... Please post back if you need more information. Daniel
If you are talking about a small, rectangular magnet, about a 1/16" think or so, it goes in the detergent dispenser drawer. Looking at the front of the drawer, right side, a little behind the front. This magnet triggers a ( or should if its not falied) a magnetic reed switch which allows the washer to operate only if the drawer is closed.
If you take the drawer out, and remove the front, you will see where it goes.
The magnet needs to be located on the right side of the dispenser housing it is there so the machine knows the drawer is closed. The link below will show the location of the magnet which is part number 51 near the bottom of the page.
You could have a clog in the housing underneath the dispenser where the water flows through a hose into the tub. Pull the dispenser drawer completely out. There is a tab that needs to be depressed to release the drawer and remove it. Check the opening at the bottom of the housing just inside the dispenser housing opening to see if a small sock or garment is clogging this opening. Reach down into this opening to see if an item is inside the hose. This is the normal issue that will cause water to leak out of the dispenser housing.
Wash the dispenser drawer thoroughly with warm water. Make sure that you pull off the siphon covers and wash all siphon holes. This process is described in your owner's manual. Replace the dispenser drawer and try the washer again.

When you are looking at the drawer, the magnet stands upright on the far right side just inside the outer front casing about halfway down. There is a small plastic clip that holds it in place. You don't need to take anything apart to reinsert the magnet, just open the drawer, but it may be easier to see the location if you pull the drawer all the way out of the hole.
I had the same problem. If you turn the dispenser so that the front faces away from you, look on the left side in the front. half way up there is a space with what looks like a plastic clip that might hold the dispenser to the front bezel. This actually holds the magnet, which can be installed without taking the dispenser apart. Be sure to install (pop in) the magnet vertically so that the long part of the magnet sits next to the right side of the dispenser opening (when viewed from the front) when the drawer is closed.
pull drawer out on right side just behind outer cover there should be a area where magnet fits if can't find exact spot hold magnet along right edge of opening and turn washer own if nothing happens move magnet along right edge till it comes on glue mahnet to dispenser drawer in corresponding area
I found it! If you are looking at the drawer from the back the magnet sits in the pocket in the far left. The plastic extends out like a clip (to hold the magnet in place). You depress that when placing the magnet in.
