Cindy, it’s either the water inlet valve that fills your ice maker or the ice maker itself that is bad. The ice maker itself controls the valve. It should come on for about 7 seconds to fill the tray. The valves do fail but not as often as ice makers fail. Its also possible that the fill tube to the ice maker is blocked with frozen water but since it made one tray that is unlikely. If you know someone that knows how to test the valve it would eliminate the decision of replacing the ice maker or the valve. Otherwise I would recommend changing the ice maker first. Hope this helps.
If there is no ice in the ice mold of the ice maker, you can pour enough water in to make cubes, wait an hour or so for the icemaker to cycle.( freeze and dump the ice). If it does, then your water valve on the back of the refrigerator that the main water line hooks up to is bad. Replace it. The valve has two sides to it. An ice maker side and a water resevoir side. One side can be bad allowing the other to work.
If the ice maker does not cycle and dump the cubes then you probably have an ice maker problem.
it sounds like your water valve is bad. you have a double water valve - one side operates the ice maker and the other side operates the water dispenser. the ice maker side of the valve is bad.
you can manually pour a little water in the ice maker ice mold and wait an hour or so - if it dumps the ice then you know for sure that the ice maker is cycling and water is not getting to the ice maker from the water valved
its hard to ck a valve that drips / and the ice maker may be over filling . if ice cubes are stuck to gether it is over filling . if driping . it may be a bad valve that does not shut off tight. I would replace the valve .. ****
Check the water control valve on back and bottom of refrigerator. One side is for the dispenser and the other side is for the ice maker. When the ice maker begins a cycle the thermostat inside the ice maker begins to warm the bottom with a heating element to allow the ice to move freely and then dump into the container beside it. As the cycle reaches its final resting place a limit switch is pressed inside the ice maker to refill with water and start the process again. So if the water valve does not open and the tray remains empty and the ice maker will try to cycle again if the thermostat says that it is cold enough again. Check your model number again and I will try to get you some drawings. The number looks good but can't seem to pull it up. Let me know what you see and find. Try filling the tray with tap water and see if it will cycle after freezing. Thanks, Sea Breeze
If there is a reset button on your ice maker try pushing it. Many ice makers have two holes for reset. A general rule of thumb is if the ice maker fingers are stopped in a slightly vertical position then your ice maker unit is working. If the fingers are stopped anywhere else then it needs some sort of attention or replaced. Make sure there is water, or ice in the ice maker tray, if not then the problem is with water supply.
there is a micro switch in the ice maker motor module that shuts power off to the ice-maker water valve when the ice maker is full but i rarely see them go bad this is the easy way to deal with it pull the unit out unplug both the valves and turn the water on a sec if its running in the ice maker with the valves are unplugged then replace the valves if its not replace the ice-maker motor module
Thanks for the question There is a water valve just for the ice maker so the problem could be there if you have a volt meter you can check the valve what you can do to check the valve reverse the wires onthe valve and push your water dispenser if no water goes into your ice maker . you have a bad valve replace thanks for the question The appliance doc
I have a Amana DRS2660BW and the water will not go up to the Ice maker. I have good preasure from the house, and get water through the door just no water to the ice maker.
I used a hair dryer from inside as it warmed tube which caused enough melt for ice blockage to come out.
Thanks for your help!
