I have an Amana model TX 18 VW. It has a top freezer section and a larger bottom refrigeration section. Whenever I close the refrigeration door the top freezing section door opens as if the pressure from the bottom moves to inide the top section to force the door open. How do I solve this problem?

Geezer, sounds like a defrost issue. I usually find the bi-metal to be the culprit on this model. Check out the pic. You will have to remove the back panel in the freezer and defrost the evaporator. Remove the ice maker if there is one. The back cover has 4 quarter inch screws. remove those. The air vent has 2 plastic clips one each side and one on the bottom, push in and pull the grill off. The thermistor cover has a slot for a flat blade screw driver, push in and pull the cover off. The thermistor will now slide behind the back panel. Check the bi-metal for buldging. As long as the evaporator fan is working, it's probably a defrost problem.

SOURCE: Amana 18 Top freezer Refrigerator-leaking water in refrigerator

the middle insulation hasbecome water logged, forma faulty defrost tube, so, every time trhe unit defrost, 2 maybe 3 times a day it will spill water inti the vents, andin to the refrig, the only correct way to fix is to have the enitre center drain block replaced, part not that expensive but labor to install may be, ohter then nussincence, not really affecting machines workings

SOURCE: Amana ARB2117BW - Bottom Freezer Door Won't Stay Sealed

This problem was posted in the wrong section. My model didn't have it's own, so its in ABB1927DE Bottom Freezer Refrigerator - perhaps you could create a section for it.

As it turns out, I looked more closely at the baskets inside. We had noticed that if the top basket was slid all the way forward when we closed the door that it would close better. So I looked to see if they or the slides were out of alignment. They seemed ok, but then I saw that the way the bottom basket was hanging didn't seem right - it was not quite nestled into it's retainer slot. I took the baskets out and turned the bottom one around. It fit perfectly into it's retainer slot. I then replaced the top one (it was already in correctly) and closed the door. It sealed correctly the first time. I tested it several times after that and it sealed tightly. Closing the top door did not make it unseal as it had done before.

SOURCE: loud humming noise (vibration) from freezer

Remove the back panel and see if the fan is turning. You will need it in the running cycle with the door switch closed. The noise your hearing is probally the fan assembly AP4008960. Make sure it is mounted tight and the back panel is not rubbing or loose. If the fan is making noise with the panel removed replace.

18 yr old Amana. Freezer works. Refer does not work.

At the top of the freezer is a door that goes to the refrigerator. If the freezer works it means the door that lets cold air into the refrigerator is closed. Check this door.

My bottom mount french door refrigerator, the upper part does not cold, it's warm

Hi,
Sorry your having trouble so soon!
First thing you need to check is inside the freezer section.
The freezer fan, the fan is W10128551 and should be running
along with the main compressor. Since the freezer is working,
I would check the food on the top drawer or on the freezer door shelf.
They too might be soft..without the fan.
I would You tube 'evaporator fan motor replacement Amana bottom freezer model' Yes I know it say's Whirlpool, but your unit is really
a Amana designed unit. I would give this a difficulty of 3 out 5 wrenches.. Take your time..

The refrigerator portion of my Amana ARB2217CW stopped cooling (the fan is still running), but the freezer drawer portion still works fine. What can

most likely you have a bad damper,go here to see it
http://www.repairclinic.com/PartDetail/Damper/67003410/1025326
all that happens is the evaporator coil in the freezer gets cold, the evap fan blows the cold air to the fridge section and it goes through the damper, when it gets cold enough in the fridge section the thermostat on the damper closes the damper door, your damper broke in the closed position, this is as long as the door wasn't left open or anything like that,if it was the air ducts could have froze up but most likely it will be the damper.go here and it will show you where it is up near the light in the back and it's part number 18.hope this helps

The top freezer door opens slightly and then reseals whenever the lower refrigerator door is closed

The lower section is connected to the top section through a common opening in the freezer floor. Shutting the bottom, being it is larger, will force air to open the top door. I installed a roller for a cabinet on top of my fridge to keep the door from pumping open. It is used to keep children out of cabinets. It is a roller wheel mounted on a spring loaded arm. It keeps the freezer shut until we open it. Some times the pumping action will force the door open enough it will not shut and things get soft. Hope this Helps Fix Ya up.
