Troy-bilt riding mower won't move in forward or reverse

I've already changed all the belts - I think it's a broken spring

I had a similar problem with my TroyBilt 50 inch zero turn mower. Was cutting grass when it stopped going either forward or backward even though it would start and the PTO would move the cutting blades. Turned out the tensioner spring for the belt that drives the motors near the rear wheels had gone missing. Searched the yard where I had cut and moved the machine but couldn't find it. A new one cost me about $7.50. Put the new one on and it worked fine.

SOURCE: Deck belt broken, l need

Hi,

You will find the diagram on the left side of the deck as you sit on tractor by left foot. It will be located under the foot pedal that has the routing diagram specifically for your Troy-Bilt mower model. Note that owner's manuals may not have the most current schematic.

Also you can check this link to download the diagram:-

Please get back to us if you have further query else please accept the suggestion.

SOURCE: I have a troy bilt riding mower blades will not engage in the 1 or 2 deck setting

There is a spring attached to a tensioner that probably came unhooked while changing the belt. Higher deck settings push the deck backwards enough to spin the blades, the lower setting need the spring tensioner to take up the slack in the belt.

Why does my Troy Bilt model number 13AJ609G766 slip from forward to reverse and wont cut in reverse?

The shift lever has a torsion spring, part 26. See if it is broken.

It doesn't cut in reverse by design.

Does Troy Bilt riding mower cut in reverse?
In addition to push mowers, Troy-Bilt manufactures riding lawn mowers. Troy-Bilt mowers come with numerous safety features. One of these is the reverse cut-off switch, which people sometimes refer to as the "cut-in-reverse" cut-off switch.

Brand new Troy-Bilt XP Horse, model 13bx79kt011 - Won't Move

Confirm the park brake is off. If a hydro-static drive tractor starts but engagement of the operator controls for the transmission drive results in neither a forward or reverse drive of the mower itself, the operator should check that the manual bypass controls have not been left in the activated (bypass) position.

Look in to where the lever connects and confirm the movement. You should be able to hear the hydraulic oil with a slight whine as you activate the drive forward pedal!
See page 18 for bypass setting?

My 50" troy bilt zero

All riding mowers have a seat safety, blade engage safety and a brake clutch safety, some mowers have a reverse mowing safety. Seat under the seat, blade and brake you will have to check the linkages underneath, and if there is a reverse mowing one I have seen them near the shifter handle right under the fender.

You may have lost an idler pulley or it has come off its normal route. The belt may be stretched out and need to be replaced.
You can go to www.precisionope.com and find an Ilustrated parts look up to see how it is on there. This model may be found under Troybilt or MTD.
