The contacts on the microswitch have probably eroded a bit with age. The simple fix is to remove the red cover and adjust the setscrew that hits the microswitch plunger. Loosen the locknut and use an allen wrench to adjust the set screw. If you aren't sure which to adjust, power up the washer and pull the trigger while watching the motor assy. You'll see an arm moving outward when the trigger is released and in when you pull it. Follow this arm to the adjusting screw. Had the same problem with mine and had to move the screw OUT a half turn.
