Is there a way to hook up my hp lazer jet pro m1212 nf mfp to be able to send a fax utiling my laptop which is by wifi. In other words no land line available.
Without a dial-up line available for your fax machine, the only other way to fax is via the internet if it's supported by your MFP. Google online faxing or fax via internet for solutions you may be able to use in your situation.
HISTORY
Fax or facsimile was invented as a way to take a printed document, scan it into digital form and transmit it to it's destination in a matter of seconds -vs- sending it via an expensive courier taking hours or days. This is before the internet, Adobe and other players made a way to create and send documents via the internet without the need for a fax machine and dedicated phone line. While faxes may still be sent that way when the printed document is the only media available, faxing has died off considerably. Most large companies now have ways implemented to move documents digitally without the need to fax. I predict the fax portion of a MFP to disappear in the not too distant future. Earlier MFP's didn't include a fax feature and one had to but the next model up to get it, now it's included in nearly every MFP. Adobe's PDF format with the ability to fill in the forms fields electronically (as in your US taxes) without having to have expensive office software made printing and faxing a thing of the past. Don't be surprised if the business or other entity requests you, and all of us, to submit a PDF document to their business email address rather than a fax.
Good luck with your quest!
