In Freezer Free Standing Warning!
To avoid personal injury or even death, always disconnect your
appliance from its power source--that is, unplug it or break the
connection at the circuit breaker or fuse box--before you do any
troubleshooting or repair work on your appliance. Also, because some
components may have sharp edges, use caution while working on your
appliance.
Hey Barb.. does it make "popping" sounds?.. if so..the ice "bucket" shaft has broken the plastic at the drive end.. or either the blades have lost their sharpened edges or the rod that runs through the ice tray is not working...
...... I have a GE.. the ice maker broke at about 13 months..I replaced it... it broke again.. its plastic and will break again...so I get no crushed ice... just big cubes..I am not replacing again!!..
Check and see if the ice in the tray has frozen into one big clump, thats usually the case. You just need to break the ice up with a pick or knife and it should work fine.
I have this problem too. Seems to be a couple of blue paper washers in the unit that the water filters through and they break up. Ive had this issue go on for more than a year now with Liebherr trying over and over not to claim responsibility. Ive sent them the blue washers and photos and all to get analyzed and they simply do not call me back. Their service center didnt even know there were 2 blue washers in the unit. Seems to be a mess. In any case I still have a very large amount of blue paper dust in my ice and its unuseable. Any solutions?
Your defrost drain hole is frozen over. Turn the fridge off. Remove the lower bin. Take a hammer and carefully break the ice sheet to remove it. Use a hair dryer to defrost the drain line in the rear of the freezer just below the back panel. The drain line is up on the back inside the drain pan,not under the ice you will be breaking in the bottom.
Sounds like what is happening is ice is not being used enough and too many defrost cycles have come and gone inside freezer compartment ,thereby fusing that great big hunk of ice together. You will have to be careful breaking ice up because plastic is not as strong as ice. Hairdryer might help
